Historia
At the tail end of the long summer of 1940, there is nowhere in the country more charming than Wrightsville. The Depression has abated, and for the first time in years the city is booming. There is hope in Wrightsville, but Ellery Queen has come looking for death. The mystery author is hoping for fodder for a novel, and he senses the corruption that lurks beneath the apple pie façade. He rents a house owned by the town's first family, whose three daughters star in most of the local gossip.

Ellery scratches the itch
Revisado: 09-06-22
Loved the book. Richard Waterhouse is great narrating the different characters. Great twist in the plot. I seriously did not know who did it until the last chapter and why. This is the first book of the "Wrightsville" series and it is a stunner no doubt.

A book leaving you wanting more, but in a good way
Revisado: 04-16-21
Let us get the technical points out of the way. it was a well written book, with accurate forensic medicine and anthropological acumen.
But what one really wants to know, and what our author does is tell our story in three really good points: 1) All people have secrets, some good, some bad 2) Your true friends, the ones that really matter are there when you lose all hope and you need a save, even if you left them, and 3) Life is precious, but it changes. Its not the tragedies that define you, is it how you respond and make them better. If you miss those three points, I got nothing to say on that.
Our author could not keep us on edge like she was able at the end of book one, but she is leaving crumbs that more books will come and answer the questions that keep us memorized. Will the beautiful and talented Emily Hartford be with her high school sweetheart Nic forever, despite all of the plot twists? Will Nic someday be able to get on one knee with a Bigger Rock than Brandon ever gave her (Plot idea, instead of diamonds, do gemstones, many are rarer than diamonds). Will she ever solve and get the closure of her mother's death? Will Emily get to keep and grow her relationship with her new family member long lost about? Finally, even though it may be a while, will Emily, after finishing her residency, pick up her father's mantle and become more than a surgeon, but a doctor who is a modern Hercule Poirot in the way she deals with DBs and get the truth? In other words, will she stop being the "Coronor's Daughter" and once and for all become the Coroner? Time will tell and I love our author for keeping us wanting more. But please, don't leave us hankering for long. as an Archeological student and now Modern Day Truck Driver. I need the stories to help pass the time. I know all who read this review will not be sorry, so go for it.

Historia
When Marshall McEwan left his hometown at age 18, he vowed never to return. The trauma that drove him away ultimately spurred him to become one of the most successful journalists in Washington DC. But just as the political chaos in the nation’s capital lifts him to new heights, Marshall is forced to return home in spite of his boyhood vow. His father is dying, his mother is struggling to keep the family newspaper from failing, and the town is in the midst of an economic rebirth that might be built upon crimes that reach into the state capitol - and perhaps even to Washington.

Forget the Politics, one of Greg's Best Yet!
Revisado: 03-24-21
Let's get the Gorilla in the Room outta the way. If you have a problem with Politics, then prolly you are too thin skinned to face some hard truths in the US going on right now. Chapter 48 addresses a part of that. Again, Trump supporter or not, it is what it is.
Now, let's get to the meat and potatoes. One of the qreatest plots Greg has ever written. This has some elements of The Devils Punch bowl and the three Natchez Trilogy Books. Caitlin had she lived, would be been pleased her newspaper would be referred to.
This also sounds and is set up for a new Hero and series of books. While the Penn Cage Saga may be coming to end, Marshall McCuen may very well pick up where Penn and Natchez comes to an end. Greg, if you read this review-I have read every story you have written. This is some of your best work man. Thank You for your books and keeping me company on my long journeys my friend.
