Relatable
Revisado: 12-27-23
This book was written well. at first I thought the monotone narration would bother me but it didn't. I think it got me to think about what was being said and the relationships being developed. It is easy to let life get in the way.It is even easier to let life pass us by. Sometimes life has us meet people that van change our lives if we let it and don't get in our heads. Life is not all up nor all down, rather, a random mix of both as life happens. This book is a reminder of all that. Thanks.

Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Terrible Audio
Revisado: 11-13-23
The problem with audio books is that if the reader and/or audio quality is not there, it ruins the experience. It sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom. You can hear the echo of the room. Also, what is disappointing is that the author reads it and sounds monotone. As the title suggests, there is swearing in the book. I don't mind it, if used appropriately. This was not. It felt awkward and unnecessary. The fact that the author wrote it, you'd think the proper tonation would be used to give the swear value, nope!
The audio was so off. It was hard to gain value from what was being said. Read a physical copy of the book if you want to gain insight...skip the audio version.

Fun
Revisado: 10-20-23
I am a fan of the narrator. She does a great job at bringing characters to life and giving them dimension. She has good energy without breaching being annoying or exhausting.
The story is light and fun for a murder mystery. The main character is likable. If you are a fan of Charlaine Harris, you will easily like this book. I definitely plan to read the next book. The only wish is that I got to try the tea!

Enjoyed John's Other Books More
Revisado: 10-09-23
This reminded me of the book by Dale Carnegie, "How to win friends....". There is a lot of storytelling through example. The inly issue with examples is that they can become dated over time, or if the listener/reader doesn't relate, it could detach you from the subject matter. I like John because he usually doesn't do this so much in books. This book seemed to ramble, which I noticed myself checking out and having to bring myself back in. There are good points and key takeaways, but they are ultimately mottled in the examples and stories. If you like that and it helps you to conceptualize concepts, then you may like this more than me.

Series Fan
Revisado: 07-30-23
I like this series a lot. I like how it takes an initially seeming simple plot and delivers twists and turns along the way. it is definitely a "But wait, there's more", kind of storytelling. Nichelle is a great lead character. She's quirky enough to stand out, and rational enough to be likable. The narrator does a good job bringing the characters to life and giving the story dimension.

This is my least favorite of the series so far. The energy dipped a little bit. The story seemed a little convoluted. The love triangle approaching stale. I hoe the next book is better.

Coexisting but conflicting needs create self-sabotaging behaviors. This is why we resist efforts to change, often until they feel completely futile. But by extracting crucial insight from our most damaging habits, building emotional intelligence by better understanding our brains and bodies, releasing past experiences at a cellular level, and learning to act as our highest potential future selves, we can step out of our own way and into our potential.

I recommend this to most of my clients. Anyone looking for motivation, feeling stuck, helpless, or loss of control. The book is honest, truthful, and sincere.
The narrator's voice and tone is very warm and supportive, so if you need to put some work in, you don't feel judged or criticized.
The book can repeat itself, but you need it to. It builds on the concepts. If you are truly doing the work as you are reading, the concepts should be growing and evolving with you, so it really isn't repeating itself as much as it is helping to move you forward.

The second book didn't disappoint. The narration is good. Characters are distinguishable. Overall, tone upbeat and doesn't drag on. Lots of twists and turns. You're with Nichelle the whole way during the sleuthing.

This book is perfect for anyone looking to get on a health/fitness bandwagon, anyone who fallen off or about to, or anyone looking for support/reinforcement that they are on the right path so they don't fall off and stay strong.
Oonah does a great job narrating. Her tone is upbeat but not annoying. She uses more casual and relatable language. You won't feel bad for not great choices. Rather, support to do better next time.
The book is laid out logically and has a good flow. I is a good length. She doesn't linger on topics either.

I like this series. I wasn't sure I would. I think it has an interesting premise. I wasn't sure if I'd like the branching out to other character perspectives, but it has grown on me. I see how it helps give dimensionality to the story.
