The books are getting better.

like most lit RPG books, it is a lot of filler and theory. boilerplate. but overall the book is good. didn't like the first book much because it had so much internal thought and was kind of childish, but it is developed and is now a pretty decent story with decent characters.

I don't like the character losing his mind / becoming goblin

A good book needs a relatable protagonist, and someone who is sometimes influenced to become a inexplicably dumb goblin with emotional rash reactions makes it hard to like the protagonist. it's just a big detraction from the book.

Great protagonists, character development and a solid storyline. thanks frankfully absent from infuriating plot gaps or endless side stories. I hope the writer creates more.

Lacking direction, all over the place. What's the story ark?

Half the book is about explaining the nonsense magic. then there's unlimited random side missions which are hard to even follow. I like the characters, but please slow down the writing so you can write a real story.

Protagonist is so grumpy

Seems like the author fell into autopilot with Joe's angry attitude. the banter between Joe and Skippy used to be witty but now it's just grumpy like an old married couple on the verge of divorce. sure some parts are serious or adventurous, but not everything should be so serious in a book like this.

Very helpful for anyone with loved ones with BPD

Excellent book, and very helpful in understanding the why behind confusing emotional roller coasters. I found it help me understand much better some inexplicably emotional incidents that previously just left me spinning and confused. It helped me to better anticipate potential conflict (which previously seemed random and severe), and mitigate it with clear communication while still maintaining healthy boundaries.

I strongly recommend. People giving this a bad review might themselves be uncomfortable with some of the implications for themselves, which can be hard to read- the authors don't really hold back. Applicable to partners, parents, children and friends.

Oddly slow narration- it's slow and stuttering narration that would work if it was just one character, but it's most characters. Otherwise good.
