Historia
After a tragic accident claims the life of one of her children, Marie Egide is desperate to carve out a fresh start for her family. With her husband and their three surviving children, Marie travels to New Hampshire, where she plans to sell a family estate and then, just maybe, they’ll be able to heal from their grief. Marie’s plans are thwarted when she realizes a war veteran known by locals as “the river witch” is living in a cabin on the property, which she claims was a gift from Marie’s grandfather. If Davina refuses to move on, Marie won’t be able to either.

Butterflies
Revisado: 02-02-25
I was lost in the world created by this author. The story was performed well. If you live you suffer loss and sometimes there is comfort maybe real or imagined in beautiful healing nature, even a butterfly.

I loved every minute
Revisado: 11-11-23
l loved the story loved the narrator. I truly thought it was Kelcy Grammer as the narrator. I loved his deep clear voice. I learned some things and was taken on a beautiful journey. I was able to escape for a while and couldn't wait for what would happen next. I want to listen to every book from this author. I loved how the author gave closure on his characters at the ending and also his explanation of the research involved. The depression era is what my parents lived through and I was able to relate because of stories they had told me. I'm just sorry I've come to the end of this novel.

I'm so glad I listened to this beautiful story. It's about daily struggles and the effort to do the right thing even with all the ramifications that may produce. I understand his mindset. I will be searching for more from this author.

couldn't get past the beginning
Revisado: 03-05-23
this is clean and wholesome? Describing in detail the gore of murder. I couldn't get past the beginning. It maybe a great story but it just wasn't for me at this time. The narrator was fine.

I'm incredibly shy and awkward and I believe the tips I learned I will be able to use so I can at least carry on a casual conversation with someone instead of just smiling and shaking my head.

just ok
Revisado: 11-02-22
It took a minute to figure out what was happening, then the story became predictable. The accent was distracting. The story just ends with no conclusion. I almost started to like the characters but all the extemporaneous detail weighed the story down and I just wanted it to end.

Melancholy
Revisado: 08-13-22
The story has a sweet premise, but it just made me blue. There is a note of sadness thru the entire book. Having just lost 4 people that I loved this past year it was just too melancholy for me. The narrator was excellent and I may go back and try to write down some of the recipes.

Historia
The grand-prize winner of a writing contest sponsored by the Philadelphia Dollar Newspaper, "The Gold-Bug" was one of Poe's most popular stories during his lifetime. Similar to his ratiocination tales - early versions of what we now call detective fiction - "The Gold-Bug" is full of mystery and adventure and includes a cryptogram, invisible ink, a scarab-like bug, and pirate treasure.

what an imagination ! I want to write with cryptography now. A lot of detail and some prejudices from a hundred years ago are relevant, if you can look past that it's a great short story
