Any additional comments?
I was sorry I listened to this book as the third book in the series. It was my favorite of the three, but having listened to Book #1, I basically knew what was going to happen. If you have not listened or read the other two books, listen to this one first!

The Plot had Promise, But....
Revisado: 07-07-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The reader read the story as though she was a fourth or fifth grader reading for the class.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
The plot had promise but then the writing was very juvenile. I kept waiting for this book to get better. There were a few moments almost 3/4 of the way into the book but it wasn't worth getting to this spot.

25 Shades of Grey?
Revisado: 02-28-16
Any additional comments?
This book is a 50 Shades of Grey wannabe. Complete with eye rolling, immature, selfish 20-something female and multimillionare man with relationship issues. It was terrible. That's all I can say. This book was so bad, I could not finish it.

Historia
From the outside, Mill River looks like any sleepy little Vermont town where everyone knows everyone and people never need to lock their doors. There are newcomers for whom this appeals, from police officer Kyle Hansen and his daughter Rowen, who are starting over after heartache, to Claudia Simon, the schoolteacher who is determined to reinvent herself. But on closer inspection, there are those in Mill River - including a stealthy arsonist, a covetous nurse, and a pilfering priest - who have things they wish to hide.

Author had problems with math
Revisado: 02-04-16
Any additional comments?
This was a sweet, enjoyable book, but there were some odd discrepancies which distracted from the story. The biggest problem I had was with the ages, the mother was 17 when her daughter was born but then they are about 50 years apart in ages at the end of the book. The author needs to spend more time in Rutland, Vermont if she is going to write in detail about the area, there were odd tidbits that didn't add up. I was not unhappy I spent my time listening to this book, but I don't feel the need to read another by this author.

Fun Book to Listen Too
Revisado: 11-05-15
What did you love best about Cold-Hearted Rake?
This was a fun book. It had humor, light banter and of course the perquisite sex. The narrator was pleasant to listen to. There was not a lot of anguish, bodice ripping or miss-communication. Very pleasant to listen to.

Please Record Louder
Revisado: 09-09-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I had so much trouble trying to hear this book, and the previous book in this series. I had to drive with my ear to the speaker and I don't think that is the safest way to drive. Why not record audio books as loud as possible? I can turn my speakers down, it is not possible to turn them up more than full volume. .

More Substance than other books by Evanovich

Any additional comments?
This book surprised me by the twist and turns of the plot. I have read all of Janet Evanovich's Plum series which I enjoy for the wit and find this series to be much better. There is still a lot of eating and drinking in this series but there is also more plot and substance

Caution - Don't Listen While Driving!
Revisado: 04-08-15
What disappointed you about Venetia?
Please do not listen to this book while driving, you will fall asleep. The only good part about this book was listening to it enabled me to fall asleep faster than usual. The performance was not bad it was the story and the writing. I listened to this for about 40% hoping it would get better but it didn't.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Please Stop the Baby Talk!
Revisado: 12-08-14
Would you try another book from Suzan Tisdale and/or Brad Wills?
This is the first audio book I have wanted to return. The lispy baby talk in the bad Scottish accent made my skin crawl. Fortunately most of it was just too soft to hear but what I could hear was terrible. If the reader must talk in a baby voice, please do not add a lisp and an accent, the two just do not work.
I like books that are in a series and I am very disappointed this series cannot work unless this child grows up in a hurry.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
