Her narration is unparalleled IMHO

It’s a long book, to be sure. But her narration was filled with feeling, inflection, and even the occasional audio clip of her singing a song to add another dimension to the chapter. Because of her amazing journaling and record keeping all her life, you get fascinating details. But back to the narration: I felt like she and I were having occasional sleepovers with a glass of wine (and food, because….food!) and she was talking to me openly and honestly about her life. Every autobiographer should take a lesson from Barbra on how to narrate their life story. This is likely not going to be the last time I listen to this gem.

Narration off-putting for me

It’s hard to separate this book from the narration of it. For me, the unrelenting staccato quality of the narration wore me out. I’d love to listen to it by another narrator in a more natural tone. I chose the book for the topic, but the topic was hard to tease out from under the staccato narration.
