Historia
Deep in the mountains of West Virginia, Conor and his team are sheltering at the Banks Compound, desperate for some way to regain the momentum that billionaire Walter Lightspeed brought to the country. They’d been so close to recovery and now salvation slipped further away with each passing moment. Desperate for a ray of hope amidst their grim reality, the team launches a mission to find someone who might be able to bring new energy to the national recovery effort. Someone America knows and respects. Someone who clawed their way up from poverty to build an empire. Someone plainspoken and unquestionably patriotic.

Historia
Nestled in the mountain shadows of Alabama lies the little town of Wicklow. It is here that Anna Kate has returned to bury her beloved Granny Zee, owner of the Blackbird Café. It was supposed to be a quick trip to close the café and settle her grandmother’s estate, but despite her best intentions to avoid forming ties or even getting to know her father’s side of the family, Anna Kate finds herself inexplicably drawn to the quirky Southern town her mother ran away from so many years ago, and the mysterious blackbird pie everybody can’t stop talking about.

Historia
Deborah Harkness first introduced the world to Diana Bishop, an Oxford scholar and witch, and vampire geneticist Matthew de Clermont in A Discovery of Witches. Drawn to each other despite long-standing taboos, these two otherworldly beings found themselves at the center of a battle for a lost, enchanted manuscript known as Ashmole 782. Since then, they have fallen in love, traveled to Elizabethan England, dissolved the Covenant between the three species, and awoken the dark powers within Diana’s family line.

Good Continuation
Revisado: 09-07-24
BBO was a very good Continuation of A Discovery of Witches. Introducing us to Pip and Rebecca and the Proctor witches of Ravenswood and Ipswich. I love Gwyneth and Julie, and Tally is my favorite ghost of the family. The story expands upon the involvement of Philippe's long reach into the past, including Gallowglass's presence at Salem. I particularly enjoyed Ysabeau's
long patience at play when it came to her ruse in Venice and her ability to let things play out over decades until they absolutely have to come to light. i didnt love Diana as much in this book as I did in DOW but I enjoyed it enough to keep me reading and looking forward to the next.

Touching and very human
Revisado: 07-11-24
I like the very real characters, and how you can dislike nearly all of them but root for them to do better as partners and parents. all them are flawed and a bit fated to their circumstances. The end was perfectly done.

I wish so much that Langoreth had ended the journey with her love. But very little of life in that time was about love.

Really enjoyable
Revisado: 04-30-24
This story has a slow thoughtful pace. Characters you grow to care about and want to see reunited.
The story of the island of St. Kilda is woven into the story of it's people and you care for it too, hoping even when hope is all but lost. Great story for a long rainy weekend on the coast.
