Revisado: 12-01-19
I feel that I should give praise where praise is due. If you enjoyed Water for Elephants then you should read my Name is Eva. It's a wonderful story and Eva, even at the age of 90, is someone to be admired for her performance. The narrator did an excellent job Well worth reading.

Yes. A clever plot.
Who was your favorite character and why?

The scene at the well. The Indians were so laidback, but set out to do the job and carried it out with, which seemed, no great effort whatsoever..
If you could take any character from Mister Slaughter out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Matthew. He impresses me because he never acts without thinking before he makes his move..
Any additional comments?
Eldoardo Ballerini's performance is great. He is very talented, he has the gift of bringing the characters to life. Channging his voice for so many charaters is outstanding.

A great listen
Revisado: 08-16-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. The story keeps one guessing as to who actually committed the crimes.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Matthew as he was the only one who could see through all the superstitions of the people and his belief in the accused never wavered. His character is great as he thoughtfully worked out who was the criminal.
Have you listened to any of Edoardo Ballerini’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but I must say that he is an excellent narrator and this made the book so much more interesting as he brought each character to life as a result of his talent, I thoroughly enjoyed the book and was sorry when it came to an end.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I found the end of the story about the magistrate very sad.
Any additional comments?
A good listen. The story takes place in an era when people were superstitious, uneducated and cruel and were easily aroused to violence. The belief in sorcery forms the background of the story The the storyline is very good and there were times when I was sitting on the edge of my seat and found it difficult to stop listening.
