Touching Story

I enjoy listening to books while working so I appreciate when books are easy to follow. This one was exactly what I needed. I scored it during the BOGO sale. Some of the story was maybe a little predictable except for near the end but I don’t always mind that. The character development and storytelling was so good. Prepare now for an emotional roller coaster. There were a couple moments I wish I wasn’t at work while tearing up. The teenage angst in the first half of the book was of course frustrating but that just means it was spot on for all the drama experienced at that age. The author and narrators did an excellent job with this one.

Fantasy isn’t my usual genre of choice but I don’t regret listening at all. It’s a long one but I didn’t want it to end. If you’re here for the spice be prepared to wait. The scenes are sweet once you reach them. Notably tame for the author. Admittedly, I prefer spicy so that was a bit of a let down but don’t pass on this story for that reason. The story line was interesting and enjoyable. The author has a way with words and pieces stories together that keeps you wanting more. Definitely a nice change from my typical listen. Narrators were excellent. It is a bit odd to have the story take place in Russia and lack the accent, however, it’s fantasy so anything goes. 😊 the Narrators did well when they played other characters with accents so I think it would have made the listen even better but it wasn’t a deterrent for me to complete the story.

Definitely worth the credit!!!

This is my first listen of Laurelin Paige’s work. I was worried I’d get tired of listening to four books based on the same couple. The author did an excellent job with developing her characters. The story stayed interesting all the way through. It was a long listen but I never got bored. The narrators, as usual, did a great job. I did notice a few accent flubs when switching between characters but it wasn’t often nor was it too distracting. There was plenty of 🌶️🌶️🌶️. No fade to black. I don’t recommend for those who are bashful. If you like spice and a good story this is for you!

As usual the narration is top notch with Erin and Teddy! The author is still new to me. This is my second listen of hers and both have been so good. The second half of this story kept me in tears from either laughing or crying. Cozy was so incredibly relatable. Often times the big CEO male character is written as harsh around the edges. I liked that Max was so lovable and kind. It’s also enjoyable that the characters all mingle throughout the author’s books but each book can be read/listened to as a standalone. I’m looking forward to my next listen by Amy Daws.

Love Rina Kent but…

Rina Kent is one of my favorites! I love her books. This one was hard to get through. This is my first listen with Christy Woods. I don’t think she was a good fit for this part. The story seemed not to flow. As soon as I thought I was close to the end it would pick back up. It was quite repetitive. I’ve been listening to all of the author’s books in reading order. This is book 20 and the first I’ve struggled to get through. One of 20 is darn good odds. If this is your first of RK and you didn’t like it I suggest you try again from the beginning of her list. The rest are so good!
