This second book has even stronger "folk tale" overtones from a place and time that never existed. I like the style very much. There are several strong women characters and I hope they are fleshed out more in coming books as they are interesting, but so far very much supporting characters even though important.

Every woman can relate to this Morgan!

So well written and details the patriarchal history of women throughout Europe. Why we gave our power to men I don't know, but the details of the struggle of intelligent women to not have their spirit crushed continues unto today. It is a story of hope and love and learning. It tells of how often what we see does not convey the reality of another's reasoning, or actions even when we think it is so clear. It is not "against" men, it is not "against" anyone. It does help anyone to see how deeply ingrained in women is the belief that to stand up for ourselves, to follow our hearts, our gifts, is not natural. No wonder we struggle to relearn we are and should be happy and powerful. A book that left me feeling renewed.

Once again a superior novel.

This series is one of the few I follow. The writing is excellent, the storyline flows from novel to novel and within each volume. I can envision each scene and battle without being mired in minutiae. The narrator is ideal and my mind and emotions are fully engaged from beginning to end. Where will the pieces lie in the end?

Once again a stellar book.

As always, this book was interesting even as it set up the narrative. At the end everything is, as usual, tied together another gift lost for many other writers. Tying together that our dark side is as much a part of us as the light, that the good and bad of it is more perception and focus than we like to admit without ever being preachy, or overt is one of Mr. Gaiman's greatest talents. Each of his books is new and different and refreshing to read.

It is one of those books that makes having the demands of life interrupting your "reading" completely annoying! The voices of the cast, the timing, once again perfectly cast and superb. I love that by following through every loose end is tied up at the end.
