Historia
A dark and sweeping adventure, Dreamcatcher is set in the haunted city of Derry - the site of Stephen King's It and Insomnia. In it, four young boys stand together and do a brave, good thing, an act that changes them in ways that they hardly understand. A quarter-century later, as grown men who have gone their separate ways, these friends come together once a year to hunt in the woods of Maine.

top notch
Revisado: 01-25-24
This story is captivating, but almost everything I've ever read by King has been gripping, compelling. Stephen Kings voice sticks to me and I find myself narrating the scary parts of my life in his voice.
speaking of voices, and narration, this is the best reader for Stephen King, besides the writer Himself.

Historia
For as long as Augusten Burroughs could remember, he knew things he shouldn't have known. He manifested things that shouldn't have come to pass. And he told exactly no one about this, save one person: his mother. His mother reassured him that it was all perfectly normal, that he was descended from a long line of witches, going back to the days of the early American colonies. And that this family tree was filled with witches. It was a bond that he and his mother shared - until the day she left him in the care of her psychiatrist to be raised in his family.

Augusten tells a story so unique
Revisado: 05-15-23
I have read almost all of his books, but hearing it in his voice makes it even better. I have just finished this book and I'm restarting it. I only wish I could meet him, and his husband. I relate to so many of the things he says. This book left me wishing for a film of their life. If I could meet him I'd tell him people like us always find the key before we find the door. the difference is we know to keep the key. ok I'm no writer but I think he'd relate.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

This book is how I got my boyfriend into King
Revisado: 11-30-22
This story feels very natural and relatable. The young man, main character is not portrayed as a perfect virtuous guy. But he is good. and likeable. This book is not pure horror; though there are elements of horror. It is an engaging fairy tale for adults. I have listened to it again and again.
Stephen King has been a top 5 favorite of mine since I was 12. This is one of his best works. I am hoping for a sequel. Please Steve! If you read this. A beautiful, engaging story makes you want more and more.

it is a good story
Revisado: 11-18-22
Yes there was a lot repeated here. yes the accent was a little irritating for me, but I enjoyed the story. I was rather surprised she didn't share her sewing needle with all the women to begin with. and surprised they didn't develop the story line of trade or association with the Clan. I will be buying the final book. I find myself hoping I don't hear the Mothers song again, but disappointed that the book is over.

This novel of awesome beauty and power is a moving saga about people, relationships, and the boundaries of love. Through Jean M. Ms Auel did a lot of research for this book, but it does not come off as dry and simply informative. The story is engaging and moves at a good pace.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

He had to throw in multiple insults to Trump
Revisado: 05-14-21
good people who think Trump is racist will hate him, but if it isn't true, them that makes it unfair characterization.
This story moves along at a good ace and keeps the interest. like It, the kids in the story form a bond and fight the evil influences in the book. King is a well known Left leaning writer, and I used to consider myself liberal was I believe in equal rights and gay marriage etc. now it has been hijacked by terrorist groups. so Kings multiple negative political comments just feel out of place, tacked on, and tone deaf.
four out of five. I have deep respect for Kings writing and this book is good.

Historia
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

a mysterious yet real seeming story in ways
Revisado: 06-27-20
The reader had the perfect accent for this book.
I enjoyed that I didn't know what was happening all the time, and couldn't predict it. I felt like the Kings really went somewhere new in this tale, and the characters had good depth.
I adore the last page.
