Historia
At first, high school freshmen Rex McClendon and Leif Nelson believe what they’ve been told - that local students’ strange demises at Whitewood, a local reformatory, were all tragic accidents. But when the shoot for their low-budget horror masterpiece, PolterDog, goes horribly awry - and their best friend, Alicia Boykins, is sent to Whitewood - Rex and Leif are forced to question everything they know about their unassuming hometown and its cherished school for delinquents.

Too Confusing for me
Revisado: 03-01-21
I am a fan of OSC and this is probably my least favorite book. I really wanted to like this story a lot - but the long explanations about how time travel works -- which I still didn't understand -- I found to be completely distracting. Probably could have knocked a complete hour out of this book by eliminating it.

Historia

It’s been ten years since Teresa and Kayla shook off the dust of Birthright, Texas, went their separate ways, and never looked back. Apart from their foster mom, Miss Janie, they don’t have many fond memories of their hometown. Or of each other. Still, neither can forget the kind woman who opened her home and heart to two teenagers in need.

Haunting Mystery that Spans Generations
Revisado: 05-15-19
A little mystery, a little romance, a little supernatural . . . all wrapped up in one story. The narration was spot on. Some of the story was predictable but I still got a surprise in the end that I wasn't expecting.
I appreciate that the language was clean as was the story line.

Historia
You can't run away from your past. But in some cases, it's worth a try. Sarah Landers' parents were killed in a plane crash when she was 17; her only sister committed suicide days after. Now, nearly a decade later, Sarah assures everyone she is perfectly fine - never mind her quiet aloofness, her intensity at work, her seeming neglect of any social life. Only Sarah knows the whole story. Only she is aware of the dark memories that plague her with guilt - of the fear of discovery that paralyzes her soul.

About 5 hours too long
Revisado: 05-09-19
I liked the story line, the romance, and that it was clean. But it really dragged. Listen to the first hour and the last hour. Here is what happens in the middle:
He: tell me what happened
She: No - I just can't
He: Now really - tell me what happened
She: No - I just can't
(repeat about 5 more times.)
The narrator did well for the female voices but the male voice I found irritating.

Great premise

I loved the premise of this book. However the overuse of metaphor and over use of the "f" word bogged down the story for me.

Still loved this the second time around
Revisado: 12-06-16
Would you consider the audio edition of Seventh Son to be better than the print version?
I enjoyed both the print version and the audio. It was fun to listen to this after having read it several years ago.
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?
Reverend Thrower I felt was performed very well. I was more intrigued by his motives as I listened -- much more so than when I read the book. I may have been that the first time I read it I was more intent on Alvin and Tale Swapper and this time I thought more about this character.
