Historia
Car mechanic Mercy Thompson has always known there was something different about her, and not just the way she can make a VW engine sit up and beg. Mercy is a shapeshifter, a talent she inherited from her long-gone father. She's never known any others of her kind. Until now.

A Bit of a Disappointment
Revisado: 03-05-12
Would you try another book from Patricia Briggs and/or Lorelei King?
Yes. I believe both are gifted storytellers.
Would you ever listen to anything by Patricia Briggs again?
Yes.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Nothing. Lorelei King does an excellent job and I've listened to many of her reads.
Do you think River Marked needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. The story was very unusual, difficult to follow and way too far-fetched. I was very disappointed in this book.

Red Kayak not what I expected
Revisado: 06-08-11
Brady has a great, open relationship with his parents. He is able to talk to them without fear of punishment. He has a conscience and wants to help the family of the dead child overcome their loss. He is able to identify with the loss of this child because his little sister died as a toddler. Brady is a somewhat of a too-good-to-be-true character and, therefore, not completely realistic. I had a hard time getting beyond his corny, somewhat over the top goody-good boy persona. The book moves too slowly to keep my interest.

Historia
Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

The Hunger Games - A Great Read!

This page turner will keep you listening. Follow the female protagonist through a chilling tale of survival of the fittest. This novel will appeal to young adults as well as an older audience.

Historia
Matt is a clone of El Patrón, a powerful drug lord of the land of Opium, which is located between the United States and Mexico. For six years, he has lived in a tiny cottage in the poppy fields with Celia, a kind and deeply religious servant woman who is charged with his care and safety. He knows little about his existence until he is discovered by a group of children playing in the fields and wonders why he isn't like them.

My students loved listening to this audiobook as they followed along. Narrator does an excellent job or reading with prosody.
