An incredible book.
Well-written, and researched.
I came away from this convinced he was one of the people who orchestrated the assassination of JFK, which is both sad and terrifying.
Regardless of what you take away from it, Dulles' story is definitely an amazing one.

November 22, 2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the tragedy that has haunted America ever since. For the first time, this concise and compelling book pierces the veil of secrecy to fully document the small, tightly-held conspiracy that killed President John F. Kennedy. It explains why he was murdered, and how it was done in a way that forced many records to remain secret for almost 50 years. The Hidden History of the JFK Assassination draws on exclusive interviews with more than two dozen associates of John and Robert Kennedy.

Quite possibly the definitive book on the subject.
Revisado: 02-27-20
Whenever I recommend a book on the JFK assassination to someone, this is it.
Takes all of the facts and credible theories out there, and shapes them into a comprehensive account of what happened.
At the same time, it's great for long-time students of the assassination, as it offers many pieces of information I haven't read elsewhere.
Reader does a great job, and the only thing I have left to say is it's well worth the credit.

Amazing
Revisado: 02-27-20
I've been a big fan of Bret Easton Ellis since the 80's and for me, over the years this has risen to the level of his first two books, Less Than Zero, and The Rules of Attraction.
Don't be thrown by the violent chapters. I am of the opinion you don't even need them. The real story is in the remainder of the chapters, following Patrick Bateman around 80's NYC as he attempts to fit in, and hold it together.
It sounds crazy, but if you're familiar with that time and place (or just the 80's at all), the book is absolutely hysterical.
The reader does a great job with this, IMO. Small mistakes here and there, but absolutely nails the tone the entire way through.

A real let down for me.
Revisado: 02-07-20
I have been intrigued by Lazar's story for a long time, and will be up front in saying that after the documentary, I had really high hopes for added detail I'd thought this book would provide.
Unfortunately, that's not the case.
If anything, what he does elaborate on takes his story from the realm of believable to sounding like total b.s.
Don't waste your credit.

Read this after you've read a few other JFK books.
Revisado: 02-06-20
Highly recommended, but if you're new to the subject, my suggestion is to read this one after you've read a few other JFK assassination books.
The assassination is obviously a complex topic, and after finishing this book, I felt that I would've been somewhat confused had I not already read a few other works that were a bit more straight-forward.
That being said, Dick Russell does a great job of uncovering a lot of information you won't get in those other books.

I went into this book unsure of what to expect, and wound up really enjoying it.
I read/listen to a lot of Kennedy Assassination books, and good or bad, they usually are what they are - overviews that try to connect the few pieces we have of an overwhelmingly complex puzzle.
But this is more of a story following someone in an extremely unique position. Not just due to Mary Pinchot Meyer's relationship with JFK, but because she was in the middle of a social circle in Georgetown that included so many of the players you read about in other books. James Jesus Angleton, Cord Meyer - and a number of interesting new names for me in the mystery surrounding JFK's death, such as Ben Bradlee, and Timothy Leary.
The author himself is the child of one of the players, and knew the Meyer family personally. As a result, his writing style comes across as that of an insider, which I feel added a lot.
It moves at a great pace, is captivating all the way through, and ends in the hunt for a diary, the contents of which were sure to be beyond explosive - what more can you ask for?

Historia
Lyndon Baines Johnson was a man of great ambition and enormous greed, both of which, in 1963, would threaten to destroy him. In the end, President Johnson would use power from his personal connections in Texas and from the underworld and from the government to escape an untimely end in politics and to seize even greater power. President Johnson, the thirty-sixth president of the United States, was the driving force behind a conspiracy to murder President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. In The Man Who Killed Kennedy, you will find out how and why he did it. Political consultant, strategist, and Libertarian Roger Stone has gathered documents and used his firsthand knowledge to construct the ultimate tome to prove that LBJ was not only involved in JFK's assassination, but was in fact the mastermind. With 2013 being the fiftieth anniversary of JFK's assassination, this is the perfect time for The Man Who Killed Kennedy to be available to readers. The research and information in this book is unprecedented, and as Roger Stone lived through it, he's the perfect person to bring it to everyone's attention.

The better of the two LBJ/JFK Assassination books
Revisado: 10-08-19
I thought this was the better of the two books looking at the possibility of LBJ playing a significant role in the JFK assassination (the other being "LBJ: The Mastermind" - which I also felt was very well done).
After listening to both one after the other, I'm not convinced LBJ ultimately was responsible, though they both make more than a credible case that he most likely played a key role.
This book was paced better than the other, especially in the early chapters, and as a result was much more captivating and engaging of a listen.
Like "LBJ: The Mastermind," this book also does a great job of looking not just at the events that took place in Dallas, but the bigger picture of just how many dangerous people JFK got on the wrong side of. The CIA, LBJ, Cuban exiles, Texas oil men, the Mafia, and many more. It paints a very clear, plausible picture of how each would benefit from his death, and how they may very well have orchestrated, or played significant roles in it.
If you're interested in the assassination, and don't buy the nonsense that is the Warren Commission's report, it's well worth your time.

Amazing!
Revisado: 08-16-19
Star Wars fan my entire life, but this was my first jump into the novels - and I regret not jumping in sooner.
This was AMAZING, in my opinion!
My focus was always the original trilogy. I actually liked some of what went on in the prequels, and the various animated series. But it was the most recent trilogy that lost me.
So, wanting to see if I could get my SW fix elsewhere, the expanded universe seemed like the place. A friend who is an infinitely bigger fan than I, who reads it all, recommended this.
No spoilers, but I felt this book tied into some of what I knew, but really delivered new information and characters that I'd always hoped for after walking out of ROTJ.
I got the feeling that the author must be an incredibly huge fan of SW himself, and it really shines through.

White is Bret Easton Ellis's first work of nonfiction. Already the bad boy of American literature, from Less Than Zero to American Psycho, Ellis has also earned the wrath of right-thinking people everywhere with his provocations on social media, and here he escalates. Eschewing convention, he embraces views that will make many in literary and media communities cringe, as he takes aim at anti-Trump fixation, coastal elites, corporate censorship, Hollywood, identity politics, Generation Wuss, "woke" cultural watchdogs, and more.

I'm happy to see such positive reviews on Audible for "White," after reading the reviews of many critics who struggled with it upon its print release.
I am a big fan of the author - of both his books, and his podcast - and maybe it's because I feel like this book seems like a perfect blend of the two that I enjoyed it so much.
It's interesting, thought-provoking, and honest. And B.E.E. also does a fantastic job reading it.

This is the never-before-told story of the musical revolution that happened right under the nose of the Reagan '80s - when a small but sprawling network of bands, labels, fanzines, radio stations, and other subversives reenergized American rock with punk rock's do-it-yourself credo and created music that was deeply personal, often brilliant, always challenging, and immensely influential. This sweeping chronicle of music, politics, drugs, fear, loathing, and faith has been recognized as an indie rock classic in its own right.

Loved it
Revisado: 08-05-19
I loved this book when it came out, and found that love hasn't faded over the years.
If you grew up with, are a fan of, or have any interest in the American underground/indie music scene of the 70's/80's/90's, definitely check this out.
One chapter per band, stopping when the bands broke up, or signed to a major - which as a fan of nerd-level details, I initially thought wouldn't be enough. However, I feel these abbreviated bios really capture the spirit of these bands that I'd gotten from their music over the decades, which many of the bloated bios don't do.
