Would you try another book from Ruth Rendell and/or Annie Wauters?

Ruth Rendell, yes. Annie Wauters, no.

What didn’t you like about Annie Wauters’s performance?

Her reading was very measured with a little pause between each word, like she was aiming at an audience of octogenarians. And why didn't they pick an English reader??

Did The House of Stairs inspire you to do anything?

Stop reading it...but I persevered.

Any additional comments?

This novel was all tarnished glitz, unconvincing character development, and it appeared that by the end, even the author was bored with it, but not to say I want go back and buy and listen to some of her earlier work. Ruth Rendell is a wonderful writer, but this is not her best work.

Where does Mona Lisa Overdrive rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This ranks in top 20 of 100+ books I've listened to. I am a big fan of Jonathan Davis, though, so this made a big difference.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters all had unique personalities, and the action kept things moving along fairly well, even though Gibson's stories are fairly cerebral.

Have you listened to any of Jonathan Davis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Compared favorably to All Tomorrow's parties and The Windup Girl, both of which I listened to multiple times.

Very densely and artfully written. I listened to it multiple times, sometimes as a cure for insomnia. I would not recommend it for commutes as it is too low-key for that. I loved the conception of living on Golden Gate Bridge, but never would have hung in there, due to nebulous plotting, if it had not been for the relaxing and yet entertaining reading of Jonathan Davis. His reading of Rydell was particularly amusing.
