Best Hunger Games Book Yet!
Revisado: 04-11-25
I just finished my second listen through of the book and I learned something new even the second time through. The writing is so well done and ties in well to the other books. I laughed and cried. I hope there is more.

Historia
Deborah Harkness first introduced the world to Diana Bishop, an Oxford scholar and witch, and vampire geneticist Matthew de Clermont in A Discovery of Witches. Drawn to each other despite long-standing taboos, these two otherworldly beings found themselves at the center of a battle for a lost, enchanted manuscript known as Ashmole 782. Since then, they have fallen in love, traveled to Elizabethan England, dissolved the Covenant between the three species, and awoken the dark powers within Diana’s family line.

Underwhelming
Revisado: 01-22-25
First of all, Welcome back Jennifer you’re marvelous. I have been a fan of the all souls series for years! I love love love Diana and Matthew. I recommend the first three books to anyone who will listen. The story is actual magic. With that being said, I was pretty disappointed with this book overall. It felt rushed and scattered and there were points I had to go back a few times to try and figure out what was happening. It was pretty difficult to follow, which is very uncommon for the other books I have read by DH. I think the story idea was pretty amazing and I did like to hear more about Diana’s family background. However, I don’t like having political agendas pushed on me. If I wanted them shoved down my throat I would turn on the news. I don’t mind undertones because everyone has their opinions, but when you’re trying to make a statement in a fictional fantasy book that hasn’t had that feel before, it just feels tasteless and tactless. Overall, I was not a fan of the book and probably will just stick with the first 3 going forward. Unless Gallowglass gets his own book because I mean damn!

Unrelatable
Revisado: 03-04-20
I tried throughout the whole book to relate to the main character and just couldn't. She was annoying and insanely self centered. It's not a book I would read again.

Not my Favorite
Revisado: 02-07-20
This was probably one of my least favorite books written by Robyn Carr. I have read all Virgin River and Thinder Point books, and I can say this was my least favorite. I feel like Lin Su was completely cold in like 90% of the book. I understand she was supposed to be wary, but she was down right rude most of the time. I also feel like there were so many loose ends and we never ended up with Lin Su's full story. Thank goodness there was a large portion of the book devoted to previous couples.
