I waited to long!
Revisado: 07-24-21
Oh I really enjoyed this story. I should have started it back when I first saw it, I've practically devoured all the available books so far, and I'm chomping at the bit for the next. The big thing to know about this is, so far, NO CLIFFHANGERS, oh yes there is still the arc, and the desire to know what's next, but each book is it's own mission. I won't give away the plot so let me compare it to this, you join the army, they send you out to do a thing, you come back, mission over, but you are still in the army. The books don't stop in the middle of the mission and leave you hanging, and other authors, we hate that, if you can write a good book, you won't need the gimmick to keep your readers interested. I can tell you Tao Wong didn't.

Cute little preview
Revisado: 07-24-21
While this is later in the journey, likely around the end of book 3, it gives you one fight, a taste for the writing style, and a good reason to start the whole series if you have not already. If you have, this is a cute side story, and you will enjoy it no matter where in the series you currently are.

Historia
There was no warning. A mist descended from the sky, disabling all technology and causing a weird message to appear at the corner of everyone’s eye. The situation grew worse as animals and people started to warp, transforming into terrible monsters. Within months, human civilization had crumbled. Unable to fight the seemingly-indestructible beasts, the survivors are reduced to cowering in reinforced shelters. Waiting for the end to come. Helpless. All seemed lost until a few brave souls discovered the secret of their new reality: the Tec and how to use it to level up.

Narrator Selection was off for me.
Revisado: 07-06-21
There were some choices here for the main character and narrator, with the amount of full cast productions out there this was a perfect candidate for one of those studios. This voice is not a good fit for most of the book, and really only fits one character of all. A Female reader would cover 2 of the crew, and probably do a better job voicing and narrating for the merchant, and the boy.
The book on the other hand was practically a masterpiece of lightheared earth destruction, and a starting platform for a harrowing space adventure, for that reason I implore the author to please look into more cast members, at least one female voice, to drive narration, the female parts, and the boy, and Peter to continue on with the engineer.
I really dislike Peter as a prime narrator, his reading always comes off as preachy, and I nearly quit the book and returned it just because of him, I see complaints about him further down in the comments, and almost all negativity was related to narration.
The story did a great job of holding my interest, which is how I made it in far enough to get over the narration.

Cliff hangers be the bane of our existance
Revisado: 11-06-20
While I will try not to spoil the book itself, which is amazing. It only gets 3 stars from me because it ends in the middle of the overall tale. I highly recommend that everyone wait for book 5 to buy anything. With the average length of good books here being 10-16 hours, leaving off with at least 4 hours of story to tell, or more, is just blatant profiteering. I plan to down rate any book that doesn't finish it's title topic in one installment from here on out. I find this extra disappointing to see come from an author that doesn't typically employ these tactics to secure future readers. I mean I read these books because they are amazing, and I rush to get the next one because they are amazing. So I am hoping that John won't do this to us in the future.

At the mercy of an unknown entity, Clyde gets tossed into the anime world. Yes, it exists, we just don't know it. There, he's declared the Stone, the anime main character. One day, he must kill the Viper, or else it's good-bye, Earth. This is the comedic tale of a young man vs. cliche anime tropes.

Deadpan!
Revisado: 06-17-19
This narrator is extremely deadpan. I can't say much about the book itself because I couldn't make it out of the first chapter. Pauses for spaces and commas and other transitions in the literature between one character to the next are nearly impossible to hear. I found myself zoning out before I'd even made it through the first four sentences. I have returned this book and I haven't listened past the first chapter. Really enjoyed the description of the book, so if the author is out there reading and wants to have it re-narrated I think it will be worthwhile to do so.

The Cover is Click-Bait
Revisado: 02-27-19
Let me tell you some of what this book isn't. Technomancy, is a term in science fiction and fantasy that refers to a category of magical abilities that affect technology, or to magical powers that are gained through the use of technology. A technomancer is someone who can create, augment, transform, a piece of tech, with magic. Examples, A mage with the power to sense a defect in technology, and repair it. A mage with the power to hack computers/atms, enhance a smartphone, or trick a biosensor lock by touching the tech.
A technomancer might also be someone who gains a piece of tech (electronics, not clockwork/combustion) that grants him magic or magic like abilities. Examples, you have a smartphone has an app that taps into the magic field to say, change your appearance, implant a whole new language into your mind. Maybe the smartphone has a designer app that magically changes a building structure, or color scheme, to suit you. Perhaps a TV that you can walk through like a doorway, and return back later, literally taking you into a fiction, or simply stone henge.
This book merely grazes the idea of Technomancy but in no way represents it the way the cover might imply. Green and Black like old old computer monitors. Cloak and hood like a mage. None of these things, not even technomancy in the way that the title might imply.
It's an ok story. Were there a more appropriate title, it might have rated a 5/5, but the only reason I read it, was the title, and this title is truly click-bait

Not the reader's fault.
Revisado: 11-18-18
Much setup has you wondering where it's going and who you should be behind. The description is intriguing and the narrator is a perfect genius, please read other stuff he has read. This book is simply lacking the spark needed to really engage you with the main characters. It may come later, but for me it's not fast enough, and I'll be returning the book. (though End of Chapter 7, 1:30 in)
