What did this turn into?!

I am a big fan of Ready player one. The story was great (minus the time he was stalking / harassing the girl after she made it very clear she didn’t want him to do that) Wil Wheaton was so very good as well.

This story jumped all over and seemed like a very very thin plot that was stretched way too far. Even Wil Wheaton seemed a bit disconnected from it.

I would recommend that if you loved the first book. Pretend this one doesn’t exist and be happier for it.

It feels like it should be good

The narrator has a melodic voice and the story itself seems like it has the things a good fantasy book has. I just could not get into it. I found myself spacing off. I had to restart it a couple of times because I couldn’t follow what was going on and I love epic fantasy.

I want to be clear that I don’t know why I don’t like it. I really do love this narrators voice (in a non weird way). I don’t know. I just don’t know.

Bad sci-fi. Okay teen romance?

Thought it was going to be a cool dystopian apocalyptic sci-fi novel. Even listened to the sample first. BUT. Somewhere around chapter 10 it turned into a teen romance and focused on that so long I lost all interest. 😒

Had potential.

I can’t fault the author too much. He basically wrote a book about a young chandler bing type character who gets super powers from a cape. He then decides he’s going to be a super villain but is forced to do good through extenuating circumstances.

It feels like the author had a daydream about having superpowers and supermodel type girlfriends and decided to write a book on it.

Like listening to someone play an RPG

But worse. Imagine someone playing the game and at the same time explaining everything that’s happening to them and then adding in their own thoughts. Might be for other people but I couldn’t do it!

I was very impressed with her cinder series and tried this because I didn’t have anything else. I’m very glad I did! Wasn’t sure if I was going to like the super hero theme but Marissa writes so well!

More of a sci fi romance

I think the authors are very good. The actors are excellent. I just feel there was way more emotionsplaining than nessessary. I felt the plot is fantastic and has a lot of potential, but if the trip there is flat the majority of the way it won’t end well.

Funny book very tired of politics

It’s funny and performed well but especially near the end the author is just bashing democrats and liberals. I can find the same quality of writing reading the yahoo comments section. The story had potential.
