Historia
Levitt and co-author Stephen J. Dubner show that economics is, at root, the study of incentives: how people get what they want, or need, especially when other people want or need the same thing. In Freakonomics, they explore the hidden side of...well, everything. The inner working of a crack gang...the truth about real-estate agents...the secrets of the Klu Klux Klan. What unites all these stories is a belief that the modern world is even more intriguing than we think. All it takes is a new way of looking, and Freakonomics will redefine the way we view the modern world.

Fabulous classic
Revisado: 03-17-19
This the second “reading” of Freakonomics. This first was the old fashioned way.
It’s still fresh and fascinating.
I gave hard copies to my near adult children, as they entered college, in the hopes that it would encourage a healthy degree of skepticism and way of thinking.
Just as relevant as ever.

Informative, well produced but had the feel of an infomercial
Revisado: 03-13-19
Lots of information. Maybe too much.
Might be hard to implement everything. But some solid ideas.
At points it seemed a little like an infomercial from Bulletproof and that undermines credibility somewhat.
Still interesting though.

Historia
If we are to believe many modern commentators, science has squeezed God into a corner, killed and then buried him with its all-embracing explanations. Atheism, we are told, is the only intellectually tenable position, and any attempt to reintroduce God is likely to impede the progress of science. In this audiobook, John Lennox invites us to consider such claims very carefully. Is it really true, he asks, that everything in science points towards atheism? Has science buried God? God's Undertaker is an invaluable contribution to the debate about science's relationship to religion.

Compelling and very insightful
Revisado: 11-20-18
Lennox makes solid and logical arguments throughout this book albeit not as succinct as some listeners may like.
At times some were difficult to follow and could have benefited from some humour. But after all Lennox is a mathematician.
The only significant criticism however was the narrator. His slightly whispered tone and odd pronouncing of certain phrases had a somewhat robotic (think HAL in 2001 a Space Odyssey) feel. Which in an eleven hour book can grow tiresome.

Meh
Revisado: 11-02-18
The narrator Alan Carlson was fine. But the editing was very mediocre. A number of times throughout you would hear the same take twice. Or the narrator cough and restart.
As far as the material I liked the statistics used but the material seemed reused - a lot. The same analogies over and over again - and not for effect. The book seemed like a collection of essays or podcast script put together for the sake of a book.
So not terrible but nothing enlightening either.

I think we would all like to be 10% Happier. I’m not completely sold on the meditation bit I must admit it’s intriguing and a consideration. Dan’s style is very funny and self deprecating, so it’s an easy listen. I liked it so much I’m going to order a couple hard copies on Amazon and share them with friends. Great job.

Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google are the four most influential companies on the planet. Just about everyone thinks they know how they got there. Just about everyone is wrong. For all that's been written about the Four over the last two decades, no one has captured their power and staggering success as insightfully as Scott Galloway. Instead of buying the myths these companies broadcast, Galloway asks fundamental questions.

Historia
Is there a God? If so, does God care about us? Or is human life a mere accident of physics? For centuries these fundamental questions have been integral to every culture and religion the world has known - and have not been answered, save by faith. When it comes to finding answers about how the universe came into existence, "God" is simply another theory. A theory that, many say, is no longer needed.
