a fun adventure with a great cast!
Revisado: 01-07-22
that was fun to listen to. I thought the cast did a great job with the performance. it was a fun concept. I like that the story didn't take itself too seriously.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Excellent
Revisado: 04-25-19
Excellent story. Some of the foreshadowing was a bit too early on in the book maybe, but it was woven in expertly. It was on topic and scientifically interesting. The book would have been just as good even if we didn't get that type of closure at the end. Thank you.

Historia
Picking up from A Discovery of Witches' cliff-hanger ending, Shadow of Night takes reluctant witch Diana Bishop and vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont on a trip through time to Elizabethan London, where they are plunged into a world of spies, magic, and a coterie of Matthew's old friends, the School of Night. As the search for Ashmole 782—the lost and enchanted manuscript whose mystery first pulled Diana and Matthew into one another's orbit—deepens and Diana seeks out a witch to tutor her in magic, the net of Matthew's past tightens around them.

better than the first book
Revisado: 03-16-19
Much better story than the first book. More action and better character development. The romance between Diana and Matthew is so reminiscent of Twilight at times that it's disappointing. I half expected to hear the name Edward instead of Matthew. Is this Twilight fan fiction? Other than that cliché, I really enjoyed the history lesson wrapped up in the story. I will listen to the last book of the series! Oh, and the attempt to sound like a deaf person made me a little uncomfortable. I appreciate the vocal aspects of narration, but I wasn't sure about that one. Seemed inappropriate.

In The Power, the world is a recognizable place: There's a rich Nigerian boy who lounges around the family pool; a foster kid whose religious parents hide their true nature; an ambitious American politician; a tough London girl from a tricky family. But then a vital new force takes root and flourishes, causing their lives to converge with devastating effect. Teenage girls now have immense physical power: They can cause agonizing pain and even death. And, with this small twist of nature, the world drastically resets.

This book is compelling and was not at all predictable. I was very impressed and I highly recommend it. The audible offers something special as well with the excellent narration and sound effects.

Aldis hates her job working in a juvenile detention center in rural Iceland. The boys are difficult, the owners are unpleasant, and there are mysterious noises at night. And then two of the boys go astray.... Decades later single father Odinn is looking into alleged abuse at the center. The more he finds out, though, the more it seems the odd events of the 1970s are linked to the accident that killed his ex-wife. Was her death something more sinister?

Not As Good As I Remember You
Revisado: 09-20-18
I love the way this author writes. I like the alternating chapters and how the story lines interweave at the end. this story really didn't do it enough for me. I was disappointed with the way the two boys died. It felt like it didn't align with the rest of the storyline and character build up. It seemed like Aldis and Aileen could have been sisters based on some of the mention of Aldis's lack of father, and that something more sinister than an abortion could have been Eiden's (spelling?) crime. it seemed to me that the abortion was consensual? it was anticlimactic is all. It also doesn't make sense why Rune would be evil. I don't know. The plot was well done, I just felt that some of the character build up was left unfinished. I Remember You was much better, maybe because there were fewer characters in that book. I will keep reading all of her books though. really enjoy her writing. narration was excellent.

Historia
For years Elisabeth Hasselbeck couldn't pinpoint what was making her sick. She consulted doctors and nutritionists, but no one seemed to have any answers. It wasn't until she was close to starving in the Australian Outback, living off the land as a contestant on Survivor, that, ironically, her symptoms vanished. Returning home, she identified the food ingredient that made her ill---gluten, the binding element in barley, oats, wheat, and rye.

Wish I got the BOOK and not the Audiobook
Revisado: 07-20-14
Would you try another book from Elisabeth Hasselbeck and/or Cassandra Campbell?
It was an OK book. It does a lot to make me (as a new to celiac issues sufferer) feel less alone in this struggle, but I really want access to the long recipes she lists, and those cards for traveling outside the U.S. I feel very ripped-off by not received those items. I asked customer service for those items and they said the author did not include those in the audio book.
Can I please get those travel cards? That would be a life saver!
