Historia
Gaia is dying. That, at least, is what Dr. Lionel Scott believes. A renowned expert in tropical and infectious diseases, Scott has witnessed the devastating impact of illness and turmoil at critical scale. Society as it exists is untenable, and the direct link to Earth’s death spiral; population levels are out of control and people have allowed disarray and disorder to run rampant. While most are concerned about deadly disease, Scott knows that it is truly humanity itself that will destroy Gaia.

Historia
New York Times best-selling author William Kent Krueger delivers yet another "punch-to-the-gut blend of detective story and investigative fiction" (Booklist) as Cork O'Connor and his son Stephen work together to uncover the truth behind the tragic plane crash of a senator on Desolation Mountain and the mysterious disappearances of several first responders. This is a heart-pounding and devastating mystery the scope and consequences of which go far beyond what father or son could ever have imagined....

Poor Reading Performance
Revisado: 10-23-24
I knew there was something I didn’t like about the Kruger Iron Lake series and it is mostly the narration by Chandler. I find it very disturbing and makes the characters undesirable. Kruger portrays the mistreating of American Indians accurately and it’s a shame the story is distracted by a poor reader

Historia
A tangled Trask Brothers thriller you will want to read in one sitting. He knew. There was only a scrap of red material, but he knew. Don Trask, Lead Agent for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, had no doubt what it was. For five years he had locked away the haunting memories associated with his most difficult case, the unsolved disappearance of a small girl. But now those memories had burst from their vault, and the nightmares that came with them were back. And then there was another, a young boy, and Trask knew who had done it. The same man who had taken the girl. The same man...

Virtual Voice is terrible narration
Revisado: 04-01-24
Story is hard to follow thanks to a virtual voice that can’t vary by character at all. That and a weak story line made this book a chore and wouldn’t recommend it.

This lush novel, set in 1766 England and America, evokes an era ripe with riot and revolution, from the teeming streets of London to the sprawling grounds of a Virginia plantation. Mack McAsh burns with the desire to escape his life of slavery in Scottish coal mines while Lizzie Hallim is desperate to shed a life of sheltered subjugation to her spineless husband. United in America, their only chance for freedom lies beyond the Western frontier - if they're brave enough to take it.

Historia
Ken Follett's World Without End was a global phenomenon, a work of grand historical sweep beloved by millions of readers and acclaimed by critics. Fall of Giants is his magnificent new historical epic. The first novel in The Century Trilogy, it follows the fates of five interrelated families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they move through the world-shaking dramas of the First World War, the Russian Revolution, and the struggle for women's suffrage.

Historia
1992. All across the United States respectable, upstanding citizens are showing up dead. These deaths could be accidents, and they don’t appear to be connected—until a fatal fall from a high-floor window attracts some unexpected attention. That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

Righteous Indignation
Revisado: 02-05-24
Seems every character in this story had anger issues and their speech was packed with righteous indignation which frankly ruined the story for me. Scott Brick is a great performer so I guess he was directed to perform like he did
I think this has been an issue with other Reacher stories so I’ll pass on them in the future

Historia
In a wealthy Minneapolis neighborhood, two elderly women are bludgeoned to death. They are apparent victims of a random robbery, though nothing of value appears to have been stolen. But when Lucas Davenport looks deeper, he fears that the victims weren’t so random, and the items stolen were far from invaluable. As a pattern emerges it leads Lucas to...certainly not where he expected. Which is too bad, because the killers are expecting him. And that’s only the first surprise.

Revisado: 07-01-23
I’ve enjoyed the works of William Kent Krueger for many years but this novel is the pinnacle of his success. Truly a work of accomplished story telling skill. Characters are well developed and believable. The story is engaging and there is no lull in adventures.
I haven’t enjoyed a novel more than this!
