Historia
According to the Leisure Studies Department at the University of Iowa, true leisure is “that place in which we realize our humanity.” If that’s true, argues Brigid Schulte, then we're doing dangerously little realizing of our humanity. In Overwhelmed, Schulte, a staff writer for The Washington Post, asks: Are our brains, our partners, our culture, and our bosses making it impossible for us to experience anything but “contaminated time”?

still relevant
Revisado: 10-12-24
This book needs a revision with regard to tech and post pandemic changes. However, I found it most useful to listen to while (ironically) multitasking (working). Most importantly, I learned that I am not alone. that there's nothing wrong with me. that my dissatisfaction is built in to the condition of my circumstances and is not related to me or the people around me. I might otherwise know this if I had close friends but I don't have time for that because I'm too busy being a successful mom and business owner and life partner. this book and the information in it was presented very succinctly and thoroughly. I found it very useful and affirming. In concluding the book, I actually feel much better about myself and my level of success.
I found it best to listen at 1.2 speed.

classic and thorough but needs updates
Revisado: 12-20-22
Since the last revision there have been multiple cultural shifts regarding gender that are absent and not represented in this book. some of the language and vocabulary is out of date. The intimate stories shared and oncepts are solid and timeless, however.

new standard
Revisado: 12-20-22
Thoughtfully, thoroughly and accessible written, this book is groundbreaking with open concepts. I hope it becomes the new standard guidebook for open relationships.
