If you like the Addams family...

if Wednesday Addams were to go to university, McMasters would be it. I feel as if this was pulled right out of The Addams Family universe. Don't be mistaken. this is definitely a unique story in many respects. enjoyable read\listen.

I can tell you why this is great horror and why some love this story
and others don't.........................................True horror doesn't have a ................................................happy ending this story has no happy ending. This is great for horror fans and is a true "Torment" (see what I did there?"). Many people expect a happy ending to even needing one and this is why many end up not liking this. Also, the first Act of the book is maybe a bit realistic for some invoking real fear. People tend to read these books for an element of escapism and this book doesn't give you that.

My only complaint...

A MUCH lighter touch with the dramatic music would be nice. It's like listening to the audio of a television series and they turn up the music before commercial break. I do like the sound effects and what not. Those familiar with radio plays in the style of War of the Worlds will like this. Once you tune out the extra music this is a good buy.

The story lost me in the first 45 minutes.

The narrator laid out very good history and potential for the story to come but the subsequent bickering between the two characters at the graduation really turned me off. On the plus side, the voice acting was top-notch I'd like to hear them more.

Excellent book but...

Buy the hard copy. Not only are the illustrations wonderful but you will need to use this more like a reference book and go back and forth between sections. The information will be difficult to reference in such a linear format as audio. Again excellent book in information and beauty but buy the hard copy.

Write your own ending.

I understand the ending and to mirror the reviews of others it did fizzle a bit. The problem with the ending is that it really isn't what you would expect from a book about war which isn't what many readers of the previous two books would expect. If you're debating buying this I say yes, but it isn't a blowout ending like the others. If you don't want to risk dissatisfaction, at about 4.5 to 5.0 hours from the end just write your own ending.

Unbelievably enjoyable series my only wish is that this series doesn't get ran into the ground for sake of having more books to sell. That would be a shame.
