Historia
Sam Prichard was a cop, and a good one, until the bullets took out the joint of his right hip. Now he's trying to learn to live without being a cop, and getting to know his neighbors, learning to walk again and even ride a motorcycle. Life is bearable, barely, but then he gets asked to find a missing child, and the lure of getting back into some kind of police work is too much for him to resist. When he teams up with computer whiz Indiana Perkins, he suddenly becomes one of the best investigators he's ever even known.

Stories are ok, but…
Revisado: 04-06-25
I enjoyed the stories well enough, but I coulda done without the music, which were entire C&W songs. Theres probably 20 minutes per book of singer/songwriter pieces scattered throughout and Im not even sure what the purpose was of including them, unless perhaps its the author and his band, making these books shameless promotion of his music. But whatever; its Prichards book and he can fi what he wants.
I could also have done without all the talk on church, prayer, trusting god, etc., especially since this book is not tagged as faith-based or religious. Had it been so tagged, I would not have bothered, and to be honest, I don’t think I would have missed much.
This my opinion. YMMV.

not what i was expecting
Revisado: 03-03-25
This was a lovely story, nicely narrated, but i was expecting a psychological thriller. I kept waiting for something exciting to happen but it never did. I think this book was filed under the wrong heading. There is nothing thrilling about it at all. Its just a l

Historia
FBI special agent Mercy Kilpatrick has been waiting her whole life for disaster to strike. A prepper since childhood, Mercy grew up living off the land — and off the grid — in rural Eagle’s Nest, Oregon. Until a shocking tragedy tore her family apart and forced her to leave home. Now a predator known as the cave man is targeting the survivalists in her hometown, murdering them in their homes, stealing huge numbers of weapons, and creating federal suspicion of a possible domestic terrorism event.

Very dark, no happy ending here
Revisado: 02-14-25
This was a good story, well told. It could’ve been ripped from the headlines of some small-town newspaper. Narration was spot on too. However, be aware that the topic tackled here is very dark, and by its very nature, quite depressing. Evil often hides in plain sight.

Not a fan of Rosemary and Athena so far
Revisado: 01-20-25
This was a good story and good narration but may be ruined for me by the characters. We’re supposed to root for the heroine but so far I have very little sympathy for Rosemary, mostly because she has more than enough for herself. I just don’t care for the poor pitiful me attitude. I realize her situation turned out to be none of her own doing, but her gloom, doom, and misery attitude toward life got annoying quickly. She reminded me of Eeyore the donkey in Winnie the Pooh.
I also thought her daughter Athena was too bratty by half and more disrespectful of her mother than was called for. The only thing that kept me going was the actual story which, in spite of my dislike of the main characters, hooked me in. And finding that things changed substantially in the last hour of the book, I may get one more in this series to see if the mother-daughter dynamic gets any better. I’d really like to continue this series, but not if listening to them continues to exasperate me to the point of distraction.

Historia
In Juneau, a young Native archeologist is sent to protect the ancient burial sites uncovered by an Alaskan gold mining company. He never returns. In Anchorage, a female torso - minus head, hands, and feet - is washed ashore near a jogging trail by the airport. It is not the first. At Alaska’s Fugitive Task Force, Arliss Cutter and deputy Lola Teariki are pulled from their duties and sent to a federal court in Juneau. Instead of tracking dangerous fugitives, Cutter and Lola will be keeping track of sequestered jurors in a high-profile trial.

Revisado: 01-14-25
I enjoy these stories and the flawed characters that inhabit them. I like the combo of Arliss Cutter and Lola Teariki, as they are an excellent weight/counterweight. That is, they balance and complement each other quite well. Neither is perfect but together they make a formidable team. I’ll be moving on to the next one in the series.

Only this time, he sees something terrible. When a young woman is found shot through the heart with a fatal arrow, Mercy thinks that something is murder. But Henry, a math genius whose autism often silences him when he should speak up most, is not talking.

Revisado: 12-08-24
Did not disappoint! I love Andy Carpenter. His sarcasm and wit crack me up. I listen to these books on Audible via my bluetooth headset while I’m doin’ stuff like cooking dinner or folding clothes. More than once I’ve hooted out loud with laughter at some crack Andy’s just made that only I heard, of course, and gotten weird looks from my husband and even the dog. I absolutely love every book of this series that I’ve purchased. Write on, Mr. Rosenfelt! Read on, Mr. Gardner!
