I don’t mean to sound harsh but I had to listen to this book on double speed to get through it. It should have been read instead of performed, and story wise, I would recommend Gaunt’s Ghosts instead.

Makes me want to paint again

I stopped painting Citadel miniatures for a while now. I didn’t have the time and it got too expensive. But, somehow these books hooked me. The 41st millennium feels fresh again.

One is never too old for dinosaurs

The title alone mada me click the purchase button. It resulted in a relaxing Sunday learning about dinosaurs. Informative, fun, and never too complicated, it reignited my fascination with those terrible lizards

Surprisingly addictive

How good can a story this short be, I thought. Well, it got me hooked within the first few minutes. The performance was excellent as well. A pinch of mystery, a dash of science fiction, and a hint of noir. That's how I saw it in my head, and I loved it.

I love the story as a fan of R.A. Salvatore and an occasional reader of Drizzt's adventures. The fights are surreal, the world is vast, and the fun seems never ending.

Most of the book feels like a cruise. Familiar and relaxing. Things only really picked up near and at the end where it will continue in the next book.

An easy listen and an intriguing plot

As a casual audiobook listener I find Tom's writing is as enjoyable as listening to Veronica reading it. which is a lot.

It was a little confusing at first and everything sounds so cheery even when things got sad. But, I'm not picky.

Overly British

As a casual fan of the typical British crime drama, I was expecting a little bit more from this, but what I got is more of the usual stuff. It was difficult to listed to at first, almost every dialogue is verbal jousting. Everyone vying for position, confrontational even in the most casual setting. But, I soon learn to ignore the distractions and focus on the plot, and it was a simple yet intriguing story. It kept me listening to the end.

I've been listening to Tom Merritt plethora of podcasts for years and this is undoubtedly the polished work of a refined fan of fiction.

A very Doctor Who-esque adventure through time, space, and varying spicies of creatures.

Dark Fairy Tale

Abarat it unlike any of Clive Barker's other works that I have seen. It is a fairytale-like story with adult elements like dark twists and freakish characters who is good and evil undefined leaving you to guess everyone?s true intentions. Abarat is world with endless possibilities and this book a great start for a series.

The closest thing I could compare Abarat is, to American McGee?s Alice In Wonderland the computer game. Very enjoyable, kept me hooked till the end. Like a good videogame that is satisfying and begs a sequel.
