What a Tangled Web We Weave
Revisado: 05-22-23
There are a number of trails to follow, but they all lead to deceit. This keeps our Goldie busy throughout the book, and us entertained.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

History Repeats Itself
Revisado: 02-23-23
Lessons in Chemistry reminds us of a time when some saw the good ole days and others saw injustice. Unfortunately, we think that these remnants of the past are buried, but just as the Equal Rights Amendment, has never been ratified by enough states to actually provide women with its protection. One day it may disappear if not ratified by the states that cling to the fabulous 50’s.The results may be a return to the events in this book. Ms. Zott would again become EZ and battle the culture that Miss Parker endured. I hear the stories of women who have confided in me of being between a rock and a hard place because of their gender and the social culture of the time.
Even as the Catholic Church has changed from the pay, pray and obey rule, there are those that would like to return to the pre-Vatican II days.
History may repeat itself, todays news has shown signs that ignoring the past is leading to events that foreshadow the themes in Lessons in Chemistry. If you do nothing more read the book to determined if you are OK with returning to these good ole days for you, your daughters, and all those you love in your life.
