Tredding Lightly into a New Podcast
Revisado: 11-29-22
I really hate when men refer to women as "females" it's a red flag to me. As a woman who enjoys the podcast I'm doing my best to ignore it because I realpy appreciate their dedication to the stories they tell with little interruptions. No tangents and good respectful observances of the victims. In this episode specifically I really didn't like the disgust in the main speakers voice when he said "What is wrong with WOMEN." This was when he was addressing the masses of peoples who gain this weird obsessions over serial killers.
Doing what I can to keep listening because these two are respectful (for the most part) and really do great covering facts/topics. They are human and will learn and grow as they keep producing I believe. Supporting unless more internalized sexism comes out. I believe in you boys! Going to keep trucking through your content! I really do think you'll do better after these earlier episodes I've been through with the feedback I'm sure you've received already 🙏

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Wonderful Twist be Prepared for Some Slow Verbage
Revisado: 10-28-22
I found the book very pleasant to listen to, wonderful performances! The twist is a MUST to hear but then ending left me wanting. Not that the closure wasn't there, just a little anticlimactic.
I listened to the interview with the author so I know he wanted to spend time with a lot of the characters. But some of it was so drawn out, I think, at times anyway.
Wonderful twist for sure though! Glad I bought it. 4/5 ⭐️

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Could Not Stop Listening; Jennette Thank You
Revisado: 09-26-22
I can tell this wasn't written for the fame, God McCurdy for sure makes you know that, this was a book wrapped in pain that needed an out. I'm happy Jennette found this as her out, though I know the pain she feels kind of will never go away. But that's fine, it'll be a reminder to her as she goes on that her decisions up to this point were the right ones.
A good book that helps people with trauma, or the PTSD of having emotionally unavailable/unaware or plain abusive parent really feel less alone.
Talk to someone. Go to therapy, get help.
Thanks for the read Jennette. Thanks for sharing the deepest parts of you for people who need to here it to help kickstart their own self-help lifelines.

Historia
In the heart of Indianapolis in the mid-1960s, through a twist of fate and fortune, a pretty young girl came to live with a 37-year-old mother and her seven children. What began as a temporary childcare arrangement between Sylvia Likens's parents and Gertrude Baniszewski turned into a crime that would haunt cops, prosecutors, and a community for decades to come. When police found Sylvia's emaciated body, with a chilling message carved into her flesh, they knew that she had suffered tremendously before her death.

Great Retelling of a Horrible Tragedy
Revisado: 09-15-22
Do NOT read if your are faint of heart. The very true crime story of Sylvia Likens is a heart breaking and disturbing one. 💔
I think the author did a tremendous amount of work and research into this case (besides actually being present during its proceedings), and a tasteful retelling of a story that needed to be known. Sylvia deserves to have her story told.
My only gripe is a personal one; too much lead-in to the court room setup. I understand this is an important part of the story and Sylvia's justice. But it really is just the introductions of the attorneys, judge, and jury that is too drawn out for my liking. Very dry. I found myself wanting to skip ahead but decided against it.
Besides this later part in the book, it picks right back up with a heart jolting description of testimonials and juror interactions. Very good read, I do recommend to my true crime fanatics! 👍

Historia
After more than a decade, when sisters Nikki, Sami, and Tori Knotek hear the word mom, it claws like an eagle’s talons, triggering memories that have been their secret since childhood. Until now. For years, behind the closed doors of their farmhouse in Raymond, Washington, their sadistic mother, Shelly, subjected her girls to unimaginable abuse, degradation, torture, and psychic terrors. Through it all, Nikki, Sami, and Tori developed a defiant bond that made them far less vulnerable than Shelly imagined.

A Courageous Story; Signifies Bravery and Strength
Revisado: 09-14-20
I found myself understanding why this story needs to be told, though it was hard to sit through due to it's horrible contents of abuse. These girls have quite literally been through hell. Their story needs to be heard over and over. Shelly should never be forgiven, never be allowed to see the light of day. 2022 is too soon for such a demon.

Historia
Goddesses Hera, Athena, and Venus have had it up to here with the Trojan War. So much devastation - all because of some silly male egos. The worst of the bunch is Achilles, the Greek champion whose powers have made him practically invincible. But the only way to stop a man like Achilles is to distract him - with something far more pleasurable than combat. The three goddesses seize their chance with a 21st-century beauty named Kat and her best friend, shifting the friends' souls into the bodies of a Trojan princess and her handmaiden.

Yikes
Revisado: 02-18-20
This was the final book in the series for me, and like before I thoroughly enjoyed the modern spin on my favorite Greek myths! However...the whole strong black woman who hates being white/ belittles everything about the situation in regards to being white was so obnoxious and shoved down the readers throat. We get it PC, you want the audience to know you're not only writing about white girls (and failing).
Also, GREEKS WERENT WHITE. So there were some real fucking bigoted statements I didn't quite agree with. Jackie was my favorite character but to me it felt like another white Author attempting to shove a token strong black character into a book with (but of course) the white girl as the lead. Hell even "white" Athena (not white PC...) had more romance development than Jackie. Overall disappointed with this book. I love PC Cast and her works but this one was just too ignorant in my opinion...could of been fine without it.

Venus and Griffin stole my heart!
Revisado: 07-24-19
The main character "P" was a relatable character, but the often narrow way she kept thinking about men made me a tad agitated. Having standards are fine, but I hate when women bash normal men who arent perfectly built and dump them off as undateable. Anyway! The story was amazing and filled with steamy romance, Venus is by far my favorite character, absolutely confident and hilarious.
