This was my introduction to Mrs Barnette's story and principles of government. She speaks candidly, and with the credibility that comes from overcoming adversity to accomplish great things. Her values align with building a society characterized by critical thinking, constructive discipline, optimism, and cooperation across individuals achieved through cogent persuasion.

I don't agree with all of her analogies or conclusions, but I want her mind and voice in our public discourse.

love this book. I bought a printed copy. have listened to audible copy four times, plus some bits and pieces. in my Authentic Leadership Development course experience at Harvard Business Executive Education, I recommended this book to my classmates as a compatible addition to the curriculum. great stuff!

This audible production is fantastic. Ms Marshall gets it, and executes flawlessly. This is a 'must hear/read'. Brilliant satire.

Mr Epstein is arguing his case, and so one does see points with which to contend; however, they do not impugn the foundational elements of his primary arguments. I want to watch the debate, Epstein references, near the end of the book and the catalyst for the book, to see how his opponents argue towards refuting Epstein's points.

I've seen several Rubin Report editions, but heard about the book on a podcast interview he did with Bridget Phetasy (Walk ins Welcome).

I am drawn to his earnest work to foster open discussion and to help us to engage in new ideas. His life path extends credibility. A playful perspective and what feels like a kindness and respect in his temperament make the listening experience delightful.

I am motivated to stand up for free and open discussion, in a respectful and constructive tenor.

Mr Levin takes a different approach at looking to describe drivers and reasons for the extreme polarization, and absence of constructive dialogue that we increasingly see in the US. I thought I had a decent framework for looking at how institutions fit in a community, but apparently I had some gaps. While I'm in the process of my second pass through the book, and therefore can't say that I completely agree with everything Mr Levin presents, the initial pass suggested it is a compelling argument, worth the time and energy of diving deeper into his points.

I do like how he surveys the landscapes, identifies macro forces at work, but then distills these down to the individual level. Near the conclusion, he extends an invitation to the reader to try a few things. Having an impact, in his model, is accessible to the individual, immediately, and as the awareness and understanding grows through taking those few steps he recommends, I anticipate the momentum compels an increasing share of the community to drive great changes within institutions towards restoring their formative power and relevance.

chernow demonstrates extensive research. He also seems to do a good effort at straddling the various sides of the story. however, treatment of analysis will occasionally vacilate. he also injects personal bias in the analysis.
