Historia
With the Tyton alliance firmly established, everyone is ready to defend the Obsidian Gate and face down the Taliz Dwellers. Noah will lead the leviathan element of this effort, naturally, but is soon captured and whisked away before the first major battle. Can he resist brainwashing by the most feared interrogator of the Dweller swarm? He’s been through a lot, but never expected an alliance as unlikely as pineapple breakfast pizza.

l'm out
Revisado: 08-14-24
The storyline was weak, the author meanders way too much and there is no closure... I'm no longer invested.

Historia
Clayton Sanders left home the minute he had his high school diploma in hand. He waited that long only because the army wouldn't accept him without one. Now, 10 years later, he's home, with no warning, no advance notice, no anything after being gone 10 years with almost no contact with his family. Home carrying a secret that is burning him up from the inside. A secret that has pushed him to the brink, forcing him to become a criminal in order to be where his family needs him to be, even though they don't realize it yet.

the gospel of prepping
Revisado: 06-09-24
the storyline was predictable and spent the majority of the narrative pontificating about the wisdom of prepping and how all of the great unwashed masses deserved what was coming to them when society imploded... it was preachy and condescending. I regret purchasing the story.

Peacetime can be a rough adjustment for the battle-hardened Merry Band of Pirates.
Especially when aliens don’t get the memo that the shooting is over.

Less preaching, more awesomeness...
Revisado: 01-13-21
I think the author, Craig Alanson, is a talented story teller, and I thoroughly enjoy his stories... that is.. until recently. The earlier books in the series explored some very creative story and character development, but as the series has continued, the quality of the story-telling has faltered, the dilemmas faced by the characters have become more impossible, the lead up to the resolution too protracted, and the solutions, once presented, are all the more improbable. I'm concerned the author is in danger of losing their way with this series which would be a real shame.
Also, there are too many stalls in the overall forward motion of the story, too much rehash of previous plot lines and escapades, and some chapters are clearly unimportant to the story-line and I question why they are there. Also, I think the author has crossed the line regarding the level of social justice sermonizing... If I wanted to hear this message, I would just turn on MSNBC or CNN... As it is, I don't fully ascribe to the authors sensibilities and I find it grating.

A novel about life and death and a quest for moral purpose, by the acclaimed author of word-of-mouth best seller The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August. Sooner or later, Death visits everyone. Before that, they meet Charlie: The Harbinger. Sometimes he comes as a courtesy, sometimes as a warning. Either way, this will be the most important meeting of your life. Stream of conciousness babbeling...
Revisado: 08-03-20
I read the previous book "The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August", and was really looking forward to this book only to be really disappointed. The author had a great premise for the story with so much potential which never materialized. The constant stream of conciousness interlaced through the story was distracting/irritating/annoying, and OVERUSED. I really wish I hadn't made the purchase.
