Unusual concept for a story and the octopus was thoroughly enjoyable. One main character was a bit to “perils of Pauline” for my taste. Enjoyable!

So Many Stories

This book is a mystery, a romance, a fantasy and a historical record all in one. Maybe too many topics for one book to handle. There were times when the various stories were hard to differentiate, and times when the stories were all too cliche. Maybe a little simpler would have been a better way to go.

The amazing way a typewriter was part of so many stories.

These short stories are heartfelt and sincere. Having Tom Hanks narrate them definitely added to the stories! I learned things, I was entertained, and I felt emotions. Wonderful book!

Shockingly True Story

We are bombarded with stories of little-known figures in history. This book is one of them, but not something you’ve heard or read before. The story is well-documented, well-explained and worth everyone’s time to hear. I was repeatedly shocked at the disrespect women were dealt, which continued until the late 1970’s! I’m indebted to these women for their courage, stamina and perseverance to give me the life I have! Thank you!

Remarkable Book!

Listened to it and couldn’t wait to get my earphones in every day! So much to think about that the characters are going through, besides how you would handle the same situation? Do you know people who would react o e way or the other? Would you open the box? So many interesting thoughts and ideas! Can’t wait for our book group discussion! I’ve recommended to so many people!

This is a very quirky book, but some of the ideas put forth were eye opening and informative. What Asians in Hollywood go through is a very different viewpoint. I’m glad I read it.

Rom-Com

Thought there’d be more on banned books and less on romance. I wanted to shout out to the protagonist so many times! “Don’t lie again!” “Get someone else in your corner!” “Open your own bookstore!” Etc., etc. As usual, way too easily wrapped up in the end.

Great Historical Piece

This was a wonderful look at the lead-up to the Revolution from a slightly different angle. There were tidbits of information throughout the book that brought the whole war into sharper focus. Warren should be included more in the story of our independence.

Love Story

This book was not described as a love story, but that’s what it is. I would have liked to heard about some of the other books she got feelings from. Disappointing because I felt misled.

Interesting Viewpoint

Back in the 1600’s a woman’s viewpoint was inconsequential and rarely spoken. This is a great way to imagine a woman’s thoughts and feelings during this time period. However, I did feel that her acclimation into the Indian life took less time than expected. When she returns, her “3 months in captivity” was referred to often, but it felt like it was much longer than that. Her transformation back to her old ways, although cautious and never complete, seemed contrived. If she was only gone 3 months, it seems she would have fallen back into her old ways much easier. Interesting read.
