Chris Difford is a rare breed. As a member of one of London's best-loved bands, the Squeeze cofounder has made a lasting contribution to English music with hits such as 'Cool for Cats', 'Up the Junction', 'Labelled with Love', 'Hourglass' and 'Tempted'. Some Fantastic Place is his evocative memoir of an upbringing in South London in the '60s and his rise to fame in one of the definitive bands of the late '70s and early '80s. Read by Chris Difford.

I loved every minute of this book!

Admittedly I am a life long fan of Chris Difford, Glenn Tilbrook and all of the various band members of Squeeze who came and went over the years. Chris is brilliant, insightful and honest in the way he tells his story not only about Squeeze in their infancy, but how he explores the grit of his own demons. I’ve long said that these two musicians are two of the most underrated of all time.
Even bigger than that piece of this story is how raw, real and vulnerable he allows himself to become, and his ultimate path to healing.
I can’t say enough about this book other than I’ll probably listen to it again.

Pretty Inspirational...didn’t care for the end

For the most part, I enjoyed this book...as an owner of a company with 250 employees I heard a lot of ‘me’ in this narrative. That said, sometimes it’s very helpful to hear it from a third party as a reminder.
I didn’t care for the very end. It felt like he was heading down a political road...and while I don’t consider myself a political person per se, I hate it when an agenda is seemingly woven into the story, whether I agree, or not.
