It's on the brutal side at times, but never (IMHO) slips into torture porn. The MC is pretty likable, but man would I not want his luck. I'm eagerly awaiting the next one.

Pervy old woman got annoying

After awhile the pervy old woman thing got old and annoying. Also the private working directly under a general with apparently no one else in the room just seemed lazy. As did just calling the stuff "energy" that they were going to "figure out" how to turn to electricity. I think calling it a new form of radiation might be better. How the heck are they detecting energy and manipulating just generic "energy"?

Just nothing wowed me

The story didn't really draw me in any. By the end i didn't really care anymore for the main character, or anyone else, than I had at the start. And nothing was interesting enough to make me want to continue the story with the second one.

Lackluster

The story is a strange and confusing premise with no real explanation of the main character's powers. And there's no real payout to the end of the story. it wasn't horrible and some people will like it, but I won't be going for book two.

errors inconsistencies and meh character

first off their errors in the audiobook. on one spot it repeats a section. there are some weird pronunciations in a few places. And there are parts where it seems like the main character has been in a situation for far longer than he actually could have been based on what they actually say. nothing really made me care about the main character and so far it just seems to be teeing up to one of those stories where bad shit just keeps happening to the main character type stories

This one just kinda flops for me. I care so little for the world and character he's in as opposed to Donnitown. Finding out the next book is still not going back home has really made me question if I'll ever proceed.

Disliked the MC

I just really came to dislike the main character. Also, there were some phrases used that were just off, way least for an American English speaker. I've never heard of adopted parents referred to as step parents for just one example. Things just built up the the point where I have about 3 hours left and I just don't care what happens, since I'm pretty sure the main guy isn't going to bite it.

Awkward dialogue

I only got a couple chapters in. There's just a ton of awkward, stilted dialogue. The part where he's "unabashedly" looking at the former sex slave strip down to put armor on was so cringe worthy it almost hurt.
