Not all good stores have a good ending!
Revisado: 01-30-23
This is a well constructed story. Stephen King is really a master of writing a story. The first part of this story blew me away with the after tragedy sermon by Paster Danny Classic King! Reminded me of the critical commentary in The Tommy Knockers about the Dallas police dept. His wit and depth of knowledge about the Bible and religion coupled with his cynical input made for an absolutely brilliant sermon that should be read by every true believer to test their faith.
The story is at times slow but all in all moves along and keeps you wanting more until it reaches a dark climax that will leave you wondering if King was not indeed channeling HP Lovecraft or Clark Ashton Smith.
This Revival is a good book without a good ending. But such is life!

The best History Podcast ever!
Revisado: 01-08-22
I am so glad I discovered this podcast. My work commute is two hours daily. American History Tellers is an informative podcast which makes my commute tolerable, and enjoyable.
The telling and performance of this podcast is the absolute best you find anywhere. The research that goes into bringing you the facts is phenomenal. My specialty is labor history and the stories and facts presented by these Storytellers is 100%. I have only discovered one mistake, and it is a common mistake and that is referring to the IWW as the International Workers of the World when they are in fact known as the Industrial Workers of the World.
You will not find the kind of History Telling that Lindsey Graham, & his fellow Historians give us anywhere. I produced a radio program on Labor History for 10 years at KBOO in Portland, Or. So I know that the facts American History Tellers presents to us is absolutely the facts!
I am constantly impressed and very thankful for the hard work, and the interviews they conduct in presenting us with this valuable program. With all the social media, and propagandistic news programs spreading misinformation out there American History Tellers is providing us with the best anti-propaganda possible!
History is the great iconoclast! It removes the veil of partisan politics, and helps expose the roots of lies and misinformation.
I highly recommend American History Tellers! I find this podcast educational & empowering!
Knowledge is power, be powerful!
Thank you to all the incredible folks who work so hard to produce and tell the incredible history of America in such a informative and dynamic way!

One of King’s Best, a true masterpiece!
Revisado: 10-23-21
I have read over 60 of Stephen King’s books. I read this one over 15 years ago. I decided to give it a listen and I was not sorry! John Slattery did an excellent job performing this story. Listening to this on Audible was like visiting an old friend.
For the most part King’s books are all excellent worthwhile reading with few exceptions. This story is such a creative masterpiece that the fact the story is about a gifted artist who’s works have great power both terrible and wonderful is perfect alignment with King’s magic with words and ideas.
This book is one of those books that the less you know about it in the beginning the more you’re in awe of it’s transformation as a story! So if you choose to give this a listen enjoy my friend this is a very worthwhile book whether actual reading or listening. Kudos to Slattery, his reading was masterful as well!

A man who drinks alone in front of his TV, trying to ignore the gaps in his memory. And a house cat who loves napping and reading the Bible. 11 Hours of my life I could have spent listing to a good book
Revisado: 10-19-21
So many good books so little time! I read this because I saw Stephen King gave it some positive words. I keep waiting for it to get good. But it never happen. I should have put this in my dust bin of horrible books when it got to the part about the Bible thumping talking cat. But no, I said King gave his imprimatur so it has got to be real good, or the ending is going to be spectacular!
No, never happened! I got to say I feel I tortured myself by not following my natural instincts and moved on to another book!
This book is a strange psychological wanna be thriller with a taking religious cat, and messed up people in the villain/hero’s head. The house on Needless street has little to do with the story, the story is about what goes on in some poor souls head. It’s disjointed and makes absolutely no sense!
My advise is go somewhere else for a good story. At the end the author justifies her story. Let that be me a warning, a good story needs no explanation or justification! It stands on its own. This story don’t stand at all, it just lays there all confused and disjointed like a broken manikin. It could be in the end the point the author was making. If you choose to move on and listen… you have been warned! Good luck.

This collaboration between King & Straub is pure genius. A epic story with powerful villains & heros. The performance of Frank Muller in read this story is as genus as the story. All around it is a well told story.

Predictable ending after such a great start.
Revisado: 08-19-21
I am a huge Stephen King fan. I have read over 50 of his books. My shelves are full of 1st additions. Still looking for Carrie! So I always want King to succeed! I cannot say this book ranks up there with his other great books. It is not a bad book.
This story started out so strong. In fact I could not stop listening. I listened on my hour drive to work and back home. So two hours a day I listened with great enthusiasm! But 2/3’s of the way I could see the direction the book was going. “Damn Marge!” I just knew how it was going to end and when it ended that way I was deeply dissatisfied!
Other disappointments the Boy Scout hit man, come on King make the guy human, make him take control. This hit man was a pussy, who had a perfect opportunity to get some. Too much feel good BS!
So to sum it up, King has written much better books. But this is not a terribly bad book. It's hit man character was just not believable.
The narrator did a real good job of staying in voice character. The reading was way better than most books. In fact he made the story more interesting.
If your a King fan, by all means give this a try, if you never read King, go to a classics like The Stand, Duma Key, Salem’s Lot, The Gunslinger Series…
To those who are critical because King pokes Trump a little bit I say don't be such snowflakes you crybabies. Trump deserves everything King throws at him, and he is still being too nice. Trump is a true life horror character the likes of which not even Stephen King could have dreamt of.

In 1942, the Gestapo sent out an urgent transmission: "She is the most dangerous of all Allied spies. We must find and destroy her." The target in their sights was Virginia Hall, a Baltimore socialite who talked her way into Special Operations Executive, the spy organization dubbed Winston Churchill's "Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare." She became the first Allied woman deployed behind enemy lines and - despite her prosthetic leg - helped to light the flame of the French Resistance, revolutionizing secret warfare as we know it.

Inspiring story about a Woman who was of paramount importance!
Revisado: 07-05-21
Wow, what an incredible story about an woman who preserves over the pettiness and shortsightedness of the men in leadership to be one of WWII’s greatest female spies.
This is a story that needs to be shared, and retold to remind us about the political and social dangers we face today in a Nation where half of its citizens are bowing at the knee to the Trumpian cult.
We are on the road to repeat history then once again the Virginia Halls will have to step up to lend a helping hand to defeat the next generation of evil.
I highly recommend this book!
It is masterfully told, and masterfully written. This a truly inspiring story and a woman who stood shoulders above petty men who could not or would not see her full potential.
Remember the name Virginia Hall, we all owe our freedoms to these unknown persons.

Corporate thugs, political connections & heavy handed lawyers
Revisado: 12-31-20
What an incredible story and it is presented most excellently by John Carreyrou.
As this story was unfolding I found my self incredulously exclaiming expletives over and over again at the criminal boldness, of Elizabeth Holmes, and her underlings. At the unbelievable thuggery of the lawyers representing Holmes!
I don’t understand why her lawyers & Holmes are not charged with Criminal Syndication. After all they traveled from West Coast to East Coast to intimidate, and threaten people including the author to keep their multi million dollar scam a secret.
Oh who got fooled? The Who’s who of America’s power brokers, including the Clintons, & Murdoch.
I highly recommend this book! There was nothing boring about this book, and Will Damron’s delivery was passionate and read like he was the author.
Well done all around on this, OMG This is Investigative Journalism at its absolute best.
John Carreyrou is my new hero!

Terence McKenna hypothesizes that as the North African jungles receded, giving way to savannas and grasslands near the end of the most recent ice age, a branch of our arboreal primate ancestors left the forest canopy and began living in the open areas beyond. There they experimented with new varieties of foods as they adapted, physically and mentally, to the environment. Among the new foods found in this environment were psilocybin-containing mushrooms.

This book was read very well. There was passion in the delivery. Articulated perfectly! If your curious about the history and use of magic mushrooms this is a good start. McKenna is one of the ground breakers in this area, and was one of the best most passionate advocates of using mushrooms to broaden our minds. I highly recommend this book!!!

The Naked God is Howard Fast's public repudiation of the Communist Party, of which he was a devoted member for thirteen years until reading about the full scope of atrocities committed by the Soviet Union under Stalin. The best-selling author of Spartacus and Citizen Tom Paine, Howard Fast lent his writing talents and celebrity to the communist cause as a steadfast advocate and public figure. However, he felt increasingly ill at ease with the superior manner Party leaders took with rank-and-file members and with rumors of Soviet anti-Semitism.

Great History Lesson From First Had Experience
Revisado: 10-12-20
This story has important lessons for every political view point! I see the same authoritarian actions and attitude unfolding in the American political landscape. Today leaders become sort of God like, and no one is telling them ” Hey you really are Naked underneath them clothes, and it is not pretty!”
We need to hold all manner of leadership to a higher accountability before the system becomes entrenched! Before the secret police comes knocking at our door!
