The real star is Fine' the plant
Revisado: 10-29-22
I like how this book played with the tropes of horror films, the themes of self care and sisterhood, and overcoming anxiety. The plot was difficult to willingly suspend disbelief. I had trouble connecting to the characters and following. It feels like a screenplay akin to Scary Movie.

Synopsis is well-written but misleading. Minimal mystery. Women’s fiction w angsty melodrama.

Great read!
Revisado: 10-14-22
I had trouble dealing with the general theme of child death, especially a son's death. However, the author does a good job of not being overly manipulative with the sad details. Look forward to twists and turns and a satisfying, if sad, resolution.

Historia
In 1942, the Gestapo sent out an urgent transmission: "She is the most dangerous of all Allied spies. We must find and destroy her." The target in their sights was Virginia Hall, a Baltimore socialite who talked her way into Special Operations Executive, the spy organization dubbed Winston Churchill's "Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare." She became the first Allied woman deployed behind enemy lines and - despite her prosthetic leg - helped to light the flame of the French Resistance, revolutionizing secret warfare as we know it.

A Woman of Underrecognized Importance
Revisado: 09-27-22
This compelling true story of a woman spy, who also had a disability, and her daring feats of courage and strength, gives me a little burst of fortitude. Highly recommended reading, especially for those of us still cracking the glass ceiling.

Anna discovers that he eventually became the president - some would say dictator - of a small nation in West Africa. And he is still alive.

This is a spin on a classic tale of a daughter seeking her roots, finding surprises along the way. Very enjoyable.

The mystery of a disappeared student a d tea her at a remote cliffside parochial school is an excellent setup for this gothic love story. Charlotte Bronte would be proud.

Although I really enjoyed this sequel, it was not quite as strong as the first book. Also, I found myself angry with and annoyed at Patrick and annoyed at Marnie for putting up with Patrick.

The final few chapters felt rushed
Revisado: 01-28-22
I really loved this book up until the last 4 or 5 chapters, and even then I still really liked it. It just seems like maybe an overzealous editor decided to cut the end short and the result is an ending that feels...weird. I still really enjoyed it, though.

Freaky Friday goes Mom

It would be a ridiculous premise if it weren't for the very real and relatable 'competitive momming' it depicts. I loved it.
