Historia
The purpose of this book is to clarify, to tell the truth, and to share my energies with you so that you can begin the transformation of your mind and, therefore, the transformation of your heart and your world. It is in the misteachings that have been associated with my name that much death and pain has been caused and that much guilt and self-recrimination has been expressed. That was not my purpose; that was not my lesson.

A better title would have kept me from disappointment. Not sure what Spaulding is working to accomplish, but this was Not helpful for me.

Historia
There is a competitive advantage out there, arguably more powerful than any other. Is it superior strategy? Faster innovation? Smarter employees? No, New York Times best-selling author, Patrick Lencioni, argues that the seminal difference between successful companies and mediocre ones has little to do with what they know and how smart they are and more to do with how healthy they are.

Poor performance, awful recording!
Revisado: 06-28-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
A friend tells me there is some good information in this book, but I didn't make it far enough into the audiobook to know for myself.
What could Patrick Lencioni have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Have someone else record it perhaps.
What didn’t you like about Patrick Lencioni’s performance?
The audiobook performance is flat and lifeless, and the recording is AWFUL. Every minute or two there's a loud klonking noise as if the narrator is slapping a podium. The timing of these jarring noises makes them even worse - it's just long enough between klonks to let you start hoping you've heard the last one, and then KLONK, another smack upside your brain.
Awful!
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Frustration that I wasted my time and money on something so poorly produced.

Historia
In this stunning audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers" - the best and the brightest, the most famous, and the most successful. He asks the question: What makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: That is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

Great Ideas, sometimes tedious storytelling.
Revisado: 08-25-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this book to all curious minds.
What other book might you compare Outliers to and why?
It's not as compelling a story as Black Swan. And the early focus on financial markets and players nearly kept me from finishing the book. But just as I was about to hit fast forward, the story connected with real life events in my world.

I'm a couple of months into starting up a slightly disruptive publishing company called TimeStarvd. This book, along with Kawasaki's previous works, helped me to take the leap!

Historia
Compiled after his death in 1662, Pascal's "pensées" (thoughts) are his ideas for a book in defense of faith in a rational world. These fragments give evidence of a profoundly original thinker who had resolved the conflict between his scientific mind and heart-felt faith. This audiobook begins with an analysis of the difference between mathematical and intuitive thinking and goes on to consider the value of skepticism, contradictions, feeling, memory, and imagination.

Disappointed
Revisado: 09-16-10
I've loved Pascal every time I've read his work, but I couldn't finish reading this production. The reading is dull, lifeless, but I've suffered through that before. In this production, the reader and producer collude to crash chapters and thoughts into one another like a slow motion train wreck. A moment's hesitation, or at least a deep breath once in a while, would have been appreciated.

Historia
The superb former commanding officer of the USS Benfold reveals his pioneering management techniques in this insightful audiobook. Given command of a high-tech destroyer, Abrashoff soon encountered a disillusioned and unhappy crew with a very low retention rate. The smart steps he took to improve the efficiency of the ship and quality of life for its sailors brought the Benfold to a new level of excellence, earning it accolades as the best ship in the Navy.

Great book, awful reading.
Revisado: 06-28-07
As a manager with five harrowing years of experience, it's got spot-on practical advice. I was a little surprised to find that the title refers to what the skipper worked to get everyone on the ship to buy into - rather than refering to his own command. And, having enlisted in the military as a young man, I wish I would have had the author as my CO. But the reading is just plain awful. Entirely without passion or believability, the reader even at times misreads the name of the author's ship. Were the story not so valuable, I would not have been able to suffer through the book.
