This book is incredible

Seriously one of my favorite books of all time. Only problem is… I wish I would’ve found it when I was a teenager!

Professional illusionist Harris III draws from brain science and his expertise as a magician turned storyteller to take us on a journey back to magic - not the stuff of sleight of hand that he performs on stage, but real magic: Love, hope, joy, belonging, meaning, and purpose - which transforms every facet of our work and lives.

WONDER full
Revisado: 04-18-22
Some of this book was expected (Because I met the author, saw his show, and read the cover), but I was not prepared for the honest, personal storytelling that challenged me to consider the “stories“ I have been telling myself based on what I have experienced in life. Great book. I would recommend for any adult or older teenager.

Historia
While many churches talk about discerning calling and engaging in mission, very few are structured to make this their ministry focus. Underground Church is a new vision for the church rooted in its biblical mission to share the love of God and serve the poor. Sanders explores how to make structural changes, how to think about leadership, how to fund ministries, and how to truly engage people in God's mission. Filled with creative insights, he explains what it means to center the mission of the church around the callings of individuals to outward ministry.

Great book, but I’m torn
Revisado: 01-16-20
The book was well written, easy to listen to, and follow the path that made sense. The narration was very good with a lot of emotion.
However I am a little torn with the content itself. There are some things the author says about the church in Christianity that thrilled me, and other things that I’m not so sure about. Thankfully after listening to the whole book, I realized that the author is humbly writing about his experiences and actually INVITING someone to build on them or even challenge them. Too many books like this are written simply as a pridefully innovative way to revamp God’s church. That was not this.

Halfway in… And still not sure
Revisado: 05-03-19
I like to have fun and laugh as much as the next guy, but it seems like if we are talking about the Holy Spirit’s felt presence and influence on a church body as they worship, fellowship, evangelize, etc. I just do not think it is going to be all fun and games and farting. While I am confident that is not Craigs point, i’m halfway through the book and I’m not sure if it is a comedy, business, leadership, or pastoral book. Sorry… I really wanted to like it and get something out of it

Historia
Crashing the chatterbox = Overpowering lies of insecurity, fear, condemnation, and discouragement with the promises of God. “I used to think that someone who struggled with the kinds of weaknesses I deal with daily was useless to God. I felt so often like I was drowning in internal dialogue I couldn’t control. It had been the soundtrack of my life for as long as I could remember.

Disappointed
Revisado: 03-28-17
I thought with the overwhelmingly positive reviews, that this book would be amazing. However, the language was overly informal, strange (as if there was an inside joke that I was not getting), and it began assuming that I knew the life story of the author. Is this just a book form of his sermon series - meant for his congregation?
And the reading was robotic and unfriendly. I immediately did not enjoy listening to it.
