Historia
Then: First Lieutenant Sean Elliott and nine other mixed-service US soldiers on a convoy in Afghanistan suddenly found themselves and their MRAP vehicle thrown back to Earth’s Paleolithic Age. And they were not alone. Displaced Romans, Neolithic Europeans, and more showed up as well. Some would be allies. Some became deadly foes. Now: Scientists from an almost unimaginably far future need the survivors’ advice and support to reconnoiter and ultimately recover other groups displaced in time.

absolutely awful
Revisado: 10-20-22
I typically enjoy books in this genre. however this one indulged in every trite predictable hack known to man. I couldn't find a way to like or care about any of the characters despite trying my best. I've never given a one-star review before, but that's all this one deserves.

Historia
A revolutionary approach to the techniques of working with horses, by a renowned instructor. In Horses Never Lie, renowned horse trainer Mark Rashid challenges the conventional wisdom of "alpha leadership" and teaches the listener to become a "passive leader" - a counterpart to the kind of horse other members of a herd choose to associate with and to follow. Applying Rashid’s principles and techniques helps cultivate horse personalities that are responsive and dependable regardless of the rider.

a great book despite a terrible reader.
Revisado: 08-26-21
I absolutely loved this book. it was an affirmation of what I have been doing for decades despite my cowboy companions who think I'm too soft with my horses. they go through horses like socks, either breaking them down or throwing them away after trying harsh technique after punitive measure to try and force a horse's cooperation. meanwhile my horses Adore me and we enjoy a harmonious partnership based on trust and respect. I plan on reading everything that I can get my hands on by this author.
I didn't deduct a star off the overall rating despite the absolutely horrible reader. his wooden performance coupled with many mispronunciations a various horse terminology words as well as everyday language was appalling. I have come to expect better from audible. please train or dismiss this reader.

Historia
When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity. Cloning, feel-good drugs, anti-aging programs, and total social control through politics, programming, and media: has Aldous Huxley accurately predicted our future? With a storyteller's genius, he weaves these ethical controversies in a compelling narrative that dawns in the year 632 A.F. (After Ford, the deity). When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity.

a timeless classic
Revisado: 08-16-21
Huxley wrote this book in a late 1930s but it's still very relevant today. one of my all-time favorite books, right alongside Fahrenheit 451 and the Moon is a harsh Mistress.

predictable romance
Revisado: 08-10-21
I wanted to like this book, honestly I did. but I struggled to finish it. all romances are somewhat predictable, but this one was obvious within the first 10 minutes. my other big problem was that I had trouble liking or admiring any of the characters in the story. the only thing that kept me going with some fairly decent performances by the actors themselves.

During a perfect spring evening on Nantucket, a violent storm erupts and a dome of crawling, colored fire blankets the island. When the howling winds subside and the night skies clear, the stars appear to have shifted. The mainland has become a wilderness of unbroken forest, where tools of bronze and stone litter the beaches, and primitive natives scatter in terror.

time travel world building epic
Revisado: 05-29-21
storyline and characterization were strong in this book. making it consistently interesting. battle descriptions were a little harrowing but realistic. if you enjoy time travel and world building, this is an epic worth your time. any of the main characters were likeable in case of the heroes and heroines, or at least understandable in cases of villains. room left at the end for a sequel.

an entertaining read
Revisado: 05-24-21
the premise of this book is a new twist on an old theme. the author provided some entertaining vignettes. the characterization was good, not great. I figured out the direction of the plot fairly quickly. however, even with these mediocre qualities the overall book was an entertaining read. if you're looking for a variation on Faust with a romantic twist then you'll probably enjoy this book.

plausible magic in modern day times.
Revisado: 05-07-21
this well thought out and written story of magic in our own world was thoroughly enjoyable. I have no patience for poor plot development being papered over with dazzling yet implausible magic. the best news is, that this book feels like the beginning of a series. I am hopefully waiting for book two.
