Simply Couldn't Buy In

I thought the first book was okay. Creative concept, and alright characters. But this second book struggles to handle the world and characters in a believable way. I found myself rolling my eyes often at the writers ways of avoiding tough issues or offshoots that would arise in the world he constructs. Even ignoring that, I was often surprised by the lack of stability to any character. They all are built with specific traits that make them who they are, but then many times act completely differently than you would imagine them to to fit the story.
I was enjoying this series okay through the first book, but sadly this book lost me. I might read the 3rd someday, but I have just lost interest in this world/story.
