Good plot and pacing
Revisado: 02-09-25
Ray Porter is one of my favorite narrators. He did a great job here, as usual, except for the pronunciation of the town where Freddy's family lives. In SC Beaufort is pronounced, "Bewfort", not "Bowfort".

SOOO tedious!
Revisado: 12-20-24
I can't believe I finished this ridiculous, tedious book. The protagonist is a pathetic lover and his cheating wife is completely unlikable. After way too many stupid scenes, the book finally ends with a very unsatisfying lack of resolution.

Not the action, adventure book I thought it would be from the summary.
Revisado: 11-11-24
I like the premise but the pace of the story is slow. The romance triangle is ridiculous and I could not work up much sympathy for the protagonist. I quit reading about half way through.

Historia
Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett faces two different kinds of raging beasts—one animal, one human—in this riveting new novel from #1 New York Times bestseller C. J. Box. A rogue grizzly bear has gone on a rampage—killing, among others, the potential fiancé of Joe’s daughter. At the same time, Dallas Cates, whom Joe helped lock up years ago, is released from prison with a special list tattooed on his skin. He wants revenge on the people who sent him away: the six people he blames for the deaths of his entire family and the loss of his reputation and property.

Ridiculous and unnecessarily violent plot
Revisado: 10-26-24
I have loved most of the books in this series, but was disappointed with this one. The serial killer part of the plot is so contrived, ridiculous, and violent that I kept thinking someone else must have written the book. A new weird character is introduced and then killed of without adding much at all to the story. There's not much at all of the descriptive prose about the Wyoming mountains that drew me to these novels in the first place.

Historia
From the moment John Varley burst onto the scene in 1974, his short fiction was like nothing anyone else was writing. His stories won every award the science fiction field had to offer, many times over. His first collection, The Persistence of Vision, published in 1978, was the most important collection of the decade and changed what fans would come to expect from science fiction.

Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

Stilted writing and too much focus on romance
