Much like Miss Bishop herself, this memoir is a romp. I’ve been lucky enough to have watched Miss Bishop throughout her career. I saw her in A Chorus Line on Broadway, and have loved her ever since. Her memoir does not disappoint.

An excellent narration of the imagined story of Ann of Cleves, Henry VIII’s divorced and surviving wife.

Macomber doesn’t hold up to narration

When I’ve read Macomber, I’ve found her books pleasant, easy, and harmless, a good antidote to poor health or sadness. Listening, I realized I’d just speed read, ignoring poor sentence structure and plot problems. Those things are impossible to avoid at the slower pace of Audible. Such a waste of time.

"Becoming" is a smart, compassionate book written and narrated by a smart, compassionate woman. Michelle Obama has lived--is leading--an extraordinary life. In "Becoming" she takes a clear-eyed look at her past and tells the truth with her trademark good sense and honesty. Always interesting and willing to look deeply into her experiences, she never sinks to gossip but is careful to let us see the humanity and foibles of people she loves as well as those she...doesn't.

I am not often a fan of author narration. Sometimes a writer is also a trained voice artist, and that works for me. But usually, I do not enjoy a writer/narrator. Two different skills. In this case, however, Ms Obama's narration is compelling. Her voice is naturally warm and inviting. She clearly worked with a talented producer who skillfully helped her maintain a perfect pace and pleasant tone throughout the book.

I have listened to this twice, and will listen again. There is no higher praise from me than that.

This heartbreaking, heart opening, life and love affirming one-act monologue is perhaps my favorite audio work ever. Brenda Pressley is a narrating genius. Chisa Hutchinson is a brilliant writer. Together they have made an hour of listening bliss. Thank you, Audible, for commissioning this work. It's wonderful.

This absolutely charming story is filled with romance, fairy-tale settings, and humor. I listened to the narration--an excellent enhancement to the written word--while I was knitting, and found myself laughing aloud and sometimes losing my place in the pattern because I got so caught up in the adventures of the most romantic librarian ever chronicled. Immediately bought another of Jenny Coglan's books, and added the narration. I can't wait to begin.
