Main characters made it hard to finish

When I started this series, the main character and her constant antics about her daughter drove me crazy. We get it, she’s your baby! Sheesh. On and on it went with the stupid mistakes and unrealistic storyline. I did not finish the first book and started the second one hoping that the ongoing hysterics of the female character was not such a huge plot. Wrong. A six book series and she grated on my nerves so bad that I just lumped it up to a wasted credit.

From the beginning to the end. Wow. The plot and the narration makes this my favorite book of this year. The characters were all believable and the details that were thrown in to describe what was happening kept me glued to listening. Fantastic.

Missed the mark

When I started listening to this book, the characters where the most annoying part. By the time I was near the end of the book, the narrator took the cake for the most annoying part of the experience. Her slow cadence and permanently monotone voice had me skipping multiple chapters just so that I could see how it ended. Not that I really cared. I felt no emotional ties to any of them. I believe that I will take a break from Jacqueline Drugas books for a little bit. This is becoming a common theme.

The most annoying characters.

Honestly, the premise of the story really grabbed my attention. It wasn’t until the characters really came into play that I could not handle one more chapter of the book. I get it. I get it. The end of the world. Scary stuff but why did the characters have to be such complete imbeciles. They were so unlikable that I gave up. Judd was the only one that didn’t make me want to stab myself in the ear just to make it stop.

Cringeworthy

I started listening to Preppers Apocalypse with zero expectations. After the first book I grew tired of the downright offensive accents of the narrator, the story line that just really made little sense, and every other thing being about sex and relationships. It made me cringe every time that the author made a comment about sex. I would fast forward through the chapter at the end of the box set just to avoid hearing about it. It just did not belong in the story and it seems like the author threw what they probably regarded as spicy tidbits to appeal to an audience. What audience? I have no idea. I could have done without listening to these books and I do not recommend them. They are probably the worst of this genre that I have ever read.

The Narration is awful

This was a great story. In fact, the story was so good that it kept me listening even though the narration was the worst that I have ever heard. I tried adjusting the speed. Nothing helped. I hate to say it but if the same narrator is on the next release, I will have to pass on the audio book and read it myself.

It was just okay.

Exactly as I titled this review. It was just okay. The main characters grated on my nerves with the constant whining. I never really became invested in any of them enough to want to purchase the next book. This is where the series ends for me.

Would you try another book from Maya Banks and/or Adam Paul?

I might read the next books in the series but the main male character just ruined this one for me.

This book did not have any redeeming qualities with the exception of introducing the other males for the rest of the series.

This was an awful story. I could not make myself listen any more past halfway. What a waste of a credit!
