i wouldn't read it again

It was my choice to finish this book bc I kept waiting for it to not be a romance novel. It reads that way until the last like 40 min. The narrator kind of read it like in a Jennifer Coolidge voice. That tone being part of the romance feel which is off putting. Very frustrating to hear these characters who are actual ppl defend the pedophile constantly. I had a feeling that it might be that way from the vibe i got from the direct title. Kind of icky. I understand that this happening can warp a pov but it felt deliberate at times.

The narrator did a great job! one of the best I've heard. I'm excited to watch the movie now. If you are a steady audiobooker like me, this is an excellent choice for the books included in your subscription in between waiting on your next credit.

very good read but...trigger warning.

it was good. if im being honest tho...as an overweight person, it made some things seem like a decent choice given the outcome. it does present them as bad things at the end and throughout. still found myself thinking...hmm....I realize that this is her reality and like i said, very good read but there are triggers. i dont know if there is a trigger warning o. the book or not.

If you are a horror fan, this should be on your read list. It seems slow in some parts but it picks up fast and is creepy.

Some serious continuity issues lol

This was so awful. In every way you could think. Lots of plot holes but that made it a fun read. If you don't take it seriously or try to think rationally...it's the kind of bad that entertains you. The narrator was pretty good. A lot at first but you get used to it. No way this book could have been read any other way. lol

My only criticism is that it was hard to hear at a lot of times. Especially when Miranda was speaking. the voice actor was great and when it was quiet it was natural to be that way. just wish the audio had been enhanced at those pats or something.

I have read this book and watched the film several times. I was very excited to find that there was 3 hours of book left after what I knew as the ending. Although it doesn't really add much more to the story as a whole, it still is very satisfying that it goes on bc the original ending left you needing to know more. Now I do. I will say though, most of the readers are great but some are so different it messes with the flow and mood.

Not only is this an amazing story, but to hear it in her own words takes it to a different level. She doesn’t seem like someone who has actually lived that by her voice, but it’s there if you listen. What an amazingly strong person!

Worth listening to.

The narrator was great. Great emotion in her voice. You would think that the author would have went into more when it came to the relationship the girl had with her mother and how unstable she must have been to forgive such a thing and even blaming it on her own child. The story lacks that disturbing feeling you'd get like with a similar story like Precious. But then again,this happens everyday all over the world. The stories aren't always as violent but I bet they don't feel different to the victim. Overall it is a good listen and by the end you feel proud of the girl for being so brave. Very rewarding ending. Hope that doesn't ruin it for you!
