Not A Good Match
Revisado: 06-11-24
I’ve listened to audiobooks well-narrated by Allyson before, but the pairing of this series with her is quite uncomfortable.

Historia
It's the most anticipated event of the decade—Big Lou and Fat Bob's wedding—and everyone is invited! But the relative peace and tranquillity of 44 Scotland Street is about to be disrupted. Domineering Irene is set to return for a two-month stay, consigning young Bertie to a summer camp. Not content with that, she somehow manages to come between the enigmatic nun, Sister Maria-Fiore dei Fiori di Montagna, and her friend, the hagiographer, Antonia Collie.

Sadly, It Falls Short
Revisado: 04-25-23
This is such a disappointment. After growing to love these characters and their corner of the world, there is no real story here at all. Bertie is still just 7, none of them have any real
development, and it’s wildly disjointed.

An utterly hilarious and unmissable novel for anyone who has ever felt like they spend more time washing the dishes than getting lucky. Fans of Why Mummy Drinks and The Unmumsy Mum, and rom-coms by Sophie Ranald and Sophie Kinsella, will ugly laugh at this gloriously funny and relatable listen.

Just Not As Good…
Revisado: 04-07-23
…as some of the other books about these five sisters. I like this author, and I really enjoyed Em’s story, and Grace’s. This one—Meg’s—doesn’t flow well, and the narrator’s voice gets shrill and grating way too often. It’s disappointing, but not enough to keep me from listening to the other two sisters’ stories.

Every year Lady Repton opens up her grand estate to host 'Cherringfest' - the Cotswold's favourite music festival. And this year will be special, featuring not just the return of the legendary and infamous metal rock band, Lizard... but also the home debut of the young and wildly successful new group, Unlost. But what should be a summer weekend of fantastic music, food and fun for all, turns frightening when murder is threatened, and one performer is nearly killed. Soon Jack and Sarah are in a race against time, trying to untangle a web of jealousy, egos and revenge before this Cherringfest ends in a deadly climax.

Great Series, Engaging Story..
Revisado: 10-11-22
These stories are very entertaining. My one issue is rather technical: the Audible version has 50 “chapters,” most of them less than five minutes long and bearing no relationship to the book’s actual chapters. This can be very irritating when trying to find your “place” on a different device, (or when you doze off and need to rewind a bit.)

Historia
When writer Paul Stewart heads to the idyllic Italian town of Montalcino to finish his already late book, it seems like the perfect escape from stressful city life. Upon landing, however, things quickly take a turn for the worse when he discovers his hired car is nowhere to be found. With no record of any reservation and no other cars available, it looks like Paul is stuck at the airport. That is, until an enterprising stranger offers him an unexpected alternative.

So Enjoyable!
Revisado: 08-18-21
This book and narration is a breath of fresh air! The main character is instantly engaging and sympathetic, there are terrific moments of humor, and wonderful moments of deep insight. It is a truly charming story, beginning to end.

Historia
Ofelia Archer is living the dream...or as close as seemingly possible. She owns her own business, her father seems to be on an even keel, and her new relationship with detective Zacharias Sully is cruising right along. Everything changes in an instant, though, when screams from the street lead to zombies running amok through the French Quarter. Ofelia is a tough witch who takes no guff but even she is at a loss. Who is creating the zombies? Where are they coming from? They’re not rising from the dead as much as being bumped off and used as an invading army.

Rueful, Rueful, Rueful, Rueful
Revisado: 04-24-21
To me, it is mildly irritating when I’m reading a book and a particular word is constantly repeated, but it becomes maddening when a word—particularly an adjective—is overused like this in an audible book.
It becomes distracting, and interferes with the story being told.

A Nice Enough Story, But...
Revisado: 07-08-20
There is an awkwardness to this sequel, unfortunately, especially if you’re one who notices small details. There are too many repetitive descriptive phrases. Also some just inaccurate enough to irritate—Costa Rica is not an island, Ticos have their own unique style and it’s not just an adopted “island garb.”
