Historia
From the creator of the beloved and universally acclaimed television series BoJack Horseman, a fabulously off-beat collection of short stories about love - the best and worst thing in the universe. Equally at home with the surreal and the painfully relatable (and both at once), Bob-Waksberg delivers a killer combination of humor, romance, whimsy, cultural commentary, and crushing emotional vulnerability.

phenomenal collection that honestly caught me off guard with some of the emotional heavy lifting, as it is paired so excellently with such entertaining and clever set ups

Historia
It begins with a simple ritual: Every Saturday afternoon, a boy who loves to cook walks to his grandmother’s house and helps her prepare a roast chicken for dinner. The grandmother is Swedish, a retired domestic. The boy is Ethiopian and adopted, and he will grow up to become the world-renowned chef Marcus Samuelsson. This book is his love letter to food and family in all its manifestations.

great tale, distracting narration
Revisado: 08-09-18
I was going to write that another narrator should have been chosen, but any pauses or stutters in the dialogue can be forgiven, as no one else could have told this story but the man who lived it. An inspiring journey of self and purpose through the median of a culinary career, Marcus shows you challenges most of us could never fathom, and then guides us through each endeavor as though we were right by his side. There was a personal family revelation that took me by surprise and complicated my view of the man, but all that, as well as the honest if imperfect narration, all added to a wonderful story from a human you can't help but root for.

Excellent story, difficult narrator
Revisado: 06-25-18
Well worth it for the material, once you get past the drill of the author.
