Wonderful if a bit jarring w/ where it starts bk 2
Revisado: 12-25-21
Davina Porter is an excellent narrator! she does an amazing job of giving the various characters a distinct voice. if only she could do an American accent for Brianna.

Good But Not Appropriate for Children...
Revisado: 02-03-20
Catherine Byers reading of "Zel" was wonderful and Napoli is a gifted writer. I loved how she selved into the minds and psyches of the characters. I'm just not sure it should be marketed as a children's book due to mature content. If you like reimagined fairy tales you'll love it.

Historia
Bryan Stevenson was a young lawyer when he founded the Equal Justice Initiative, a legal practice dedicated to defending those most desperate and in need: the poor, the wrongly condemned, and women and children trapped in the farthest reaches of our criminal justice system. One of his first cases was that of Walter McMillian, a young man who was sentenced to die for a notorious murder he insisted he didn’t commit. The case drew Bryan into a tangle of conspiracy, political machination, and legal brinksmanship—and transformed his understanding of mercy and justice forever.

Riveting Tragedies
Revisado: 03-20-19
"Just Mercy" is the common read at Penn State this year and Bryan Stevenson is speaking at Penn State Abington. I got the audiobook to ensure I'd be able to finish the book in time for his appearance on campus today. It was amazing to listen to an author read his own book, although Stevenson's pace was a bit slow for me (I listened at 1.25 speed). The book is masterfully written and I would reccomend it to anyone interested in true crime or learning more about the problems in our justice system.

Historia
Diana Gabaldon's fans will be delighted to find Jamie and Claire as spirited and endearing as ever in this fourth installment of this magnificent saga. Twice Claire has used an ancient stone circle to travel back to the 18th century. The first time she found love with a Scottish warrior but had to return to the 1940s to save their unborn child. The second time she reunited with her lost love but had to leave behind the daughter that he would never see. Now Brianna, from her 1960s vantage point, has found a disturbing obituary and will risk everything in an attempt to change history.

Davina Porter is a Skillful Narrator
Revisado: 01-11-19
Davina Porter almost perfectly tells the story Gabaldon wrote. I am amazed at the way she is able to give each character a different voice right down to accent in most cases. The only type of accent she cannot do is American which is unfortunate but forgivable since she is so wonderful at nearly every other aspect of story telling. my inebper peeve is that as I read along with her I found that she sometimes skipped over a sentence here or there. Most noticeably toward the end of the novel. Not a huge deal but since I was reading along it was hard to miss. Overall a really good listen. I'd definitely recommend it and anything else read by Davina Porter.
