Historia
For nearly a decade, twenty-nine-year-old Hudson Miller has made his living in the boxing ring, but a post-fight brawl threatens to derail his career. Desperate for money, Hudson takes a gig as a bouncer at a dive bar. That’s when life delivers him another hook to the jaw: his estranged father, Leland, has been murdered in what appears to be a robbery-gone-bad at his salvage yard, Miller’s Pull-a-Part.

Painful southern accent
Revisado: 02-11-25
Decent storyline. Interesting characters. Narrator solid other than horrendous southern accent, which is throughout the story. I almost quit several times.

Historia
After a harrowing escape from Russian agents on his last mission, Charles Jenkins thinks he’s finally done with the spy game. But then the final two of the seven sisters—American assets who have been deep undercover in Russia for decades—cut off all communication with their handlers. Are they in hiding after detecting surveillance? Or have they turned and become double agents? It’s Jenkins’s duty to find out, but he’s been added to a Russian kill list. It will require all of Jenkins’s knowledge of spycraft—and an array of disguises—to return to the country undetected.

Slow and hard to track
Revisado: 04-25-22
The second half of the book is good, but overall the biggest challenge is that there are far too many Russian-named characters to keep track of.

Fairly basic story but tainted strongly by the authors reading of the story, especially the Texas’ character.

Tough to go back in time
Revisado: 07-01-20
The hardest part of this book was dealing with cops stopping at pay phones to call people or waiting by the hotel phone for someone to call. I know it was based on the times but still a bit painful to endure.

Historia
The study of twins and the genetics of aggression totally consumes research scientist Jeannie Ferrami. An accomplished and headstrong researcher, Jeannie has developed a sophisticated software program to identify identical twins reared apart. But Jeannie's breakthrough project is threatened by the appearance of a sudden impossibility - identical twins born weeks apart to different mothers at separate locations.

Painfully Dumb
Revisado: 01-17-19
Follett is my favorite but this one is a miss. The plot had potential but turned dumb and the characters even dumber. The pre-cellphone setting and poor narrator did not help.

Historia
If you've ever laughed your way through David Sedaris's cheerfully misanthropic stories, you might think you know what you're getting with Calypso. You'd be wrong. When he buys a beach house on the Carolina coast, Sedaris envisions long, relaxing vacations spent playing board games and lounging in the sun with those he loves most. And it's as idyllic as he imagined, except for one tiny, vexing realization: it's impossible to take a vacation from yourself. With Calypso, Sedaris sets his formidable powers of observation - and dark humor - toward middle age and mortality.

Painful throughout
Revisado: 10-11-18
I listened to entire book, hoping it would get better, deliver a message, or at least have a point. It did not. The author’s voice is painful to listen to. Once you get past that, you realize that it is just a recording of the author’s comedy act, sometimes live and sometimes not. And overall not very amusing.

Painful
Revisado: 09-04-18
Throughout the book, i just found myself asking why in the world would the main characters take the actions they took - to the point that you just want to pull your hair out or just stop listening. In the end, I switched to double speed just to get through it. I like the picture that was painted of Alaska in a he story, but beyond that, thought this was painful to get through.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.
