Historia
Natalie is a young Gold Coast mother with a loving husband, two small children, and a happy lifestyle. While helping her mother move house, she finds a little box containing a Burmese artifact. When Natalie learns its unique history through a letter left by her great-great uncle, it ignites her interest in its origins and her uncle’s unfulfilled plans for this curio. Her investigations collide with her own dramatically changing circumstances and create a dilemma that challenges the core of her marriage as she finds herself immersed in two very different golden lands.

Could have been better.
Revisado: 12-21-13
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The only part i enjoyed was the beginning when it was set prior to the war in Burma. It was very dragged out and quite boring.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I just didnt enjoy it much at all.
What didn’t you like about David Tredinnick’s performance?
NOTHING. To me he sounded like a news reader or documentary narrator.
Could you see The Golden Land being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Yes, it could be a movie as the base idea is quite good. TONI COLLETTE AND JOEL EDGERTON AS THE COUPLE.JACI WEAVER COULD BE THE MOTHER.
Any additional comments?
Very dissapointing. The main character was so naive and really annoyed me while she was travelling.

Historia
From the bestselling author of The Thorn Birds and The First Man in Rome comes an exhilarating new novel. Colleen McCullough takes us back to 1960 and Sydney's notorious Kings Cross, and the story of a young woman determined to defy convention. Twenty-one year-old Harriet, a newly qualified X-ray technician earning a coveted male wage, ignores her father's warning that "only fools, Bohemians and tarts live in Kings Cross" and moves into Mrs. Delvecchio Schwartz's rooming house.

I was devestated when this book came to an end !
Revisado: 10-15-13
Where does Angel Puss rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is THE BEST I have listened to by far !
Who was your favorite character and why?
Absolutely Harriet Percel, such a strong, fiesty, fearless young woman - she stood up for herself ,which was not an easy thing in the 1960's !
Which character – as performed by Kellie Jones – was your favorite?
I cannot choose a favorite. Kellie Jones is THE BEST narrator ever !! She is bloody fantastic ! Such a brilliant Aussie voice, with clear, easy to listen to tone and pronounciation.
Who was the most memorable character of Angel Puss and why?
Mrs Delvikio-Schwartz. A clever, mystical, magical 'don't give a stuff what you think of me' ....yet kind and loving type.
Any additional comments?
BUY THIS BOOK !!! especially if you are like me and find American and Brittish accents hard to get used to. I just adore everything about this story, I laughed out loud often, yet was taken by the tenderness of the story also. It is a real mystery and the end is bloody unpredictable !!

Historia
When Barry Fairbrother dies in his early 40s, the town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty facade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.... Pagford is not what it first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.

Unhappy Story but incredibly engaging.
Revisado: 08-10-13
What did you love best about The Casual Vacancy?
I actually didn't like the story,it was quite sad, however, I couldn't stop listening ! It was extremely well written and the characters were very well developed. An excellent story but very sad. I think if it were a movie, I would have been crying like a baby at the end.
What other book might you compare The Casual Vacancy to and why?
I have never read a book like this. i only bought it because it was JK Rowling.
What about Tom Hollander’s performance did you like?
Some narrators are awful, Tom did a good job. Voices were good.
If you could take any character from The Casual Vacancy out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Crystal Weedon, I'd like to be her friend and help her get out of the life that is so dreadful.
Any additional comments?
It's worth buying, but read the synopsis first so you know the story line.

Historia
It was whispered all through London society that he was a murderer, that he'd spent his youth in an asylum and was not to be trusted - especially with a lady. Any woman caught in his presence was immediately ruined. Yet Beth found herself inexorably drawn to the Scottish lord whose hint of a brogue wrapped around her like silk and whose touch could draw her into a world of ecstasy.
