THE ABSOLUTE MAGIC OF SEP AND ANNA FIELDS
Revisado: 03-14-25
REREAD AGAIN LOVED IT AGAIN :) ITS LIKE MY 50TH TIME :D AND ILL PROBABLY READ AGAIN BEFORE THE YEAR IS OUT :)
BE STILL MY BEATING HEART!!
I had a blast listening to this book!! That must sound so freaking lame to some people but I swear the best way to describe this book is FUN!! The authors sense of humor and sarcasm and writing style are so freaking engaging and I couldn't stop listening to it! I love her!! The character were awesome the storyline super cute and the dialogue!! OMG THE DIALOGUE!!</b> I have laughed thru out the whole book, all the characters are a trip!
I listened to this book for that first time years ago and since then I've listened to at least 50 times more. I have over 800 audiobooks in my library and SEP is always my go to when I'm broke and don't have a new book or when i just cant pick a new book. No matter how many times i listen to it it always gets like its the first time. I laugh though the entire book! Can a book makes you deliriously happy? I mean, it just a book right? No!! Every time listen to this book I feel deliriously happy its ridiculous! I literally grin like a fool through the whole book but lets talk about the narrator. SEP and Anna Fields is a match made in heaven!
THIS BOOK JUST MADE ME HAPPY!!

Every time listen to this book I feel deliriously happy its ridiculous! I literally grin like a fool through the whole book but lets talk about the narrator. SEP and Anna Fields is a match made in heaven! The way she brings Lady Emma and Kenny and Torey and just all the characters to life is so wonderful i cant get enough! I love how SEP always has two love stories in her books but her plots are not what i love most. Its her awesome characters! Kenny Traveler and Lady Emma are so funny i'm literally laughing out loud through the whole book no matter how many times I've listened and with Anna's narrating they all have an actual personality. I'm so sad Anna wont be here to read all her books :( I'll likely listen to it again many more times just like i do all her other ones. Heaven Texas and Natural born charmer are just a couple more i absolutely love !

SEP and Anna Fields is a match made in heaven! I'm telling you no one else could bring these characters to life like Anna. The character themselves are amazing but Anna reading them is beyond magical! I swear she evens sings and i sing with her like its a song on the radio. No one writes such loveable characters like SEP i just cant get enough of them. So sad about Anna no one will do them like she did :(

I DONT GET IT!
Revisado: 02-02-25
I really don't understand how this book is on everyone's "fav zombie book list".
From now on I'm gonna look at the one star reviews and believe those because the masses are asses seriously!
This was sooooo painful...
I'm not going to use a spoiler tag because spoiling this book for you would be doing you a favor. Here's a pretty accurate timeline used in this book:
Get up in the morning.
Drink rum.
Scratch his balls.
Go scavenging for supplies.
Fight a few zombies.
Go back home.
Scratch his balls.
Take a few celebratory shots.
Scratch his balls.
Get drunk-play Scrabble.
Scratch his balls.
Go to bed.
Repeat 10x.
Oh and lets not forget the serial killer.
Like seriously?! A serial killer?! Zombies is not enough horror for you? I know apocalypse stories have bad guys because humans suck but really? A sadistic serial killer? Come on!!
I made it to chapter 25 and gave up.
The characters were too stupid and I don't see how any of them would have survived any apocalypse. I really couldn't deal with this stupid so I give up!! I really wish audible would give me back my money :(

Oz Gallagher does not do relationships well. Bored and jobless after another disastrous hook up, he decides to leave London for a temporary job in the wilds of Cornwall. Surely managing a stately home on a country estate will be easier than navigating the detritus of his relationships at home. Six months there will alleviate a bit of his wanderlust and then he can come back to London as footloose and fancy free as the day he left it. However, when he gets there, he finds a house in danger of crumbling to the ground and a man who is completely unlike anyone he’s ever met.

OMG THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED!
Revisado: 09-11-24
I'm not a big reviewer but i had HAD to review this one! I will tell you firstly I'm audiobook addict! It's bad! I have over 800 audiobooks in this account not to mention the audiobooks I get from the library and Everand. I do two audiobooks a day, I work 15 hour days and listen while I work. The problem with this is its getting sooooo hard to find books that keep me entertained! This week alone I've bought 4 books (not including this one) and I DNF'd all 4! Its really annoying audible wont give me my money back they were soooo boring I had to give up! I bought this one last week cause I thought it was a good price but I hadn't done any Lily Morton even though I've had her in my TBR for a while. I'm kind of a book snob and I'm always iffy on new to me authors but since those were so crappy and I already had this one from last week I decided to jump in. IM SO GLAD I DID!! I had the best day listening to this! The only critique I had about this even though it was funny was her little jab at Donald Trump but I wont hold that against her lol she obviously doesn't live in the US and doesn't know that every single state in the hands of a Democrat looks like a literal communist shithole but I digress. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! It was exactly what I wanted! Funny and romantic and full of banter! I had a big stupid grin on my face through the entire book and laughed for the full 9 hrs and 7 mins! I didn't even put the narration on 2.0 which I've been doing a lot lately cause everything seems like the same old shit and I just want to get through them. This was FABULOUS! I'm so happy there's many more by her and I wont send my nightly hour searching for new books for my next work day, I'll be jumping in to the rest of her library yay!! PICK THIS ONE!!

Historia
The golden skies, the translucent twilight, the white nights all hold the promise of youth, of love, of eternal renewal. The war has not yet touched this city of fallen grandeur or the lives of two sisters, Tatiana and Dasha Metanova, who share a single room in a cramped apartment with their brother and parents. Their world is turned upside down when Hitler's armies attack Russia and begin their unstoppable blitz to Leningrad.

MOST BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY EVER!!
Revisado: 08-18-24
So I reviewed this book in 2016 on an old audible account my sister had and canceled so decided to review it again on my account lol it is my all favorite so I had to lol
Would you listen to The Bronze Horseman again? Why?
YES!! A THOUSAND TIMES YES!! I'll probably play it out till it breaks YES!!
What about James Langton’s performance did you like?
This story was released a few months ago by a different narrator and he absolutely ruined the story! I don't know why but it was re-done by James Langton and I'm so grateful!!! He did Fabulous! Awesome! Wonderful!! I'll never forget it!! I wanna kiss him!! He brought the best story I've ever read alive like no one else could!!
Any additional comments?
So... I read this book like 3 years ago and since then I've read it at least 4 more times. I was never going to review it. Not because I didn't like it but because I'm scared of the inadequacy of my words. There are just no words. Do you hear me? NO. WORDS. That can explain to you the AWESOME EPICNESS that is The Bronze Horseman.
I use the word awesome because what it means...
adjective1.causing or inducing awe; inspiring an overwhelming feeling of reverence of admiration...
That's just an inch of the feelings you get when you read the story of Tatiana and Alexander. For me it was this all consuming reverence that made me feel like my heart was being clutched in someone's fist.
It was heartbreak and joy.
Agony and happiness.
Desolation and reparation.
Grief and love.
It was sorrow and adoration.
Brutality and tenderness.
It was hunger and it was fulfillment.
It was regret and it was devotion.
It's my true love. Like the one person who no matter where they are, or who came before or after, it will ALWAYS be that person. Well for me The Bronze Horseman is incomparable.
I keep it on my night stand always. Whenever I miss them, I just flip it open and no matter where it falls I am sure to be sucked right back in to the beautiful tragedy of Tatiana and Alexander. It's filled with war that will leave you heartsick and a love so shattering it will leave you breathless. Don't take my inadequate words for it. Read it. I promise you. You'll never find another book thats written in such elegant poetic prose.
FYI: For the full impact of this story I'd suggest reading it first then doing to audio version :)

Historia
In this eloquent and persuasive book, Neil Postman examines the deep and broad effects of television culture on the manner in which we conduct our public affairs, and how "entertainment values" have corrupted the very way we think. As politics, news, religion, education, and commerce are given less and less expression in the form of the printed word, they are rapidly being reshaped to suit the requirements of television.

Dumbing us down
Revisado: 08-18-24
There are so many moving parts to the western world and its cultural decline. I have read several books now that pinpoint different areas as the main cause, and these books have convinced me that it is a combination of coinciding or connecting factors that culminate into our cultural deterioration. This book concerns itself specifically with the transition and transformation of our society going from typography to television. Receiving information from the written word vs receiving information through a televised format, I push my kids to read daily and now my oldest has 5 bookshelves in her room and i'm giddy! Loved this one!

Scary
Revisado: 08-18-24
Whether you're a liberal or a conservative; whether you're religious or not, this book is a must read for the simple fact that our world is limited only by our imagination. Before 9/11 we could not imagine evil people flying jets into tall buildings. Before this book I could not imagine evil people attacking small children. After reading this book I realize that my definition of evil is framed by what I could do to another human being. I now realize that I'm very naive. And that scares me greatly. This is probably one of the more frightening books I have read. It is so realistic and it could happen. It is about a very low tech, coordinated terrorist attacks across the country by several small teams of ISIS terrorists. I hope and pray this book does not become prophetic.

This is a history of the Cuban Revolution as viewed from its dungeons. Armando Valladares describes his 22 years of torment and triumph in Castro's prison. Arrested at the age of 22 for being philosophically opposed to communism, he gives a dramatic and harrowing account of the regular beatings, the hunger, the humiliation, and the psychological "experimentation" to which the Cuban Revolution subjected its unrepentant enemies.

I loathe communism
Revisado: 08-18-24
I loathe communism and also cannot stand it when others like to romanticize it! I had a real hard time getting through this book, not because of bad writing (the writing is excellent), but because it hits close to home. My family was one of the lucky ones that was able to leave Cuba after Castro took my grandfathers home that he built with his own hands. The account of this man and those he knew who suffered under communism in Cuba will be like the millions of average citizens in the USA who will have to suffer since such as a large part of the population has embraced the ideas of communism. Read this book and "The Diary of a Survivor Nineteen Years in a Cuban Women's Prison" and "The Gulag Archipelago" and "First they killed my father" and others like them and you will see the true face of socialism/communism as it is played out in murder, theft, and injustice. I try to warn anyone who will listen about the danger of trust in and worship of government, but most do not listen. Socialistic/communistic governments are among the worst governments to plague humanity, so testimonies like this book are necessary for anyone with even the slightest intelligence to read and think about. When I think of how humans can do this to each other their own countrymen, it makes me ashamed to be Cuban but also very proud when you read about men like this. Its utterly heartbreaking!!
Remember Khrushchev's Prediction, 1959? It's coming true. It's been more than 60 years since Russia’s Khrushchev delivered this. Many of you may not remember his quote or even were alive when Mr. Khrushchev of the Soviet Union made his remarks to President John F. Kennedy, September 29, 1959.
THIS WAS HIS QUOTE :
"Your children's children will live under communism, You Americans are
so gullible. No, you won't accept communism outright; but we will keep
feeding you small doses of socialism until you will finally wake up and find you already have Communism. We will not have to fight you; we will so weaken your economy, until you will fall like overripe fruit into our hands." "The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."
Can you imagine not being able to read any book you wanted? I can’t, cause I was born free. What a tragedy that would have been for me. A life without my books. And the sad part is they don’t even know what they are missing or even what the world has to offer. My heat can't take it 😭

Adam Gold The King of Narrators!
Revisado: 08-18-24
Adam Gold can do no wrong! He makes every story come to life! I cant get enough of him! I thought this story was interesting and well written but it if wasn't for Adam's narration I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. The plot was extremely uneventful and repetitive and the romance was kind of lackluster. I wanted it to be Oryn’s story but it wasn't it was Vaughn’s. Vaughn is a wonderful character but I wanted so badly to know Oryn. His thoughts and ideas. The story kind of dragged. Perhaps if we were given a more in depth understanding of Oryn’s life I would have enjoyed it more. I kept reading in hopes of finding out but the author didn't deliver. Try Lost in a moment also by Nicky and read by Adam he kills that one!!
