These were cute at first, but between Clove and her whining, Landon bossing everyone around and acting as if he has a right to things he does not have a right to - not to mention the horribly cringy innuendo - I absolutely detest them now. And I’m sorry, but some of the narrator’s pronunciations drove me nuts - for example, “sutterfuge” instead of “subterfuge”. If I could find the return button on the Audible site, it would go back. Just awful - which is sad considering I legitimately enjoyed the earlier books.

Really great read!

Super fun, sweet, sexy read! I wasn't sure what I was getting into at first, because I've never read anything by this author, but I am so glad I took a chance! The characters were well written, fleshed out, and actually made sense. There were no head-slapping, "are you serious?!" moments. I fell in love with the characters - I liked that the hero wasn't a jerk, and the heroine was able to stand on her own. It took me a bit to get used to the narrator, but I ended up enjoying his performance. I will absolutely read more in this series, and more by the authors!

This was a perfect ending to an amazing, hilarious, beautiful, heart wrenching, super sexy, smart story. I really stink at writing reviews, but I have to try - this entire series is well worth every single credit, or every single dollar. Don't hesitate. This final installment was just perfectly done - just enough conflict to make the resolution that much more fulfilling, but everything that happened was completely understandable. I adored all the characters - I really want to know more about Hen and all of Kat's brothers!! - and I laughed myself silly reading (well, listening to) Josh's thoughts about Jonas. I yet again found myself laughing out loud in the produce department of my local grocery store while listening to this book. A beautiful job by Lauren Rowe! I will re-read this series many times, I have no doubt, and will auto-buy anything she writes. This author is extremely talented, and I am thrilled to have accidentally found her :)

(Listened to Audible version) Lauren Rowe, you're KILLING me!! I loved this installment. Hilarious, smart, sexy, and absolutely heart wrenching. The last 2 chapters!! UGH!! Perfection. My heart still hurts in the very best way :) Absolutely cannot wait for the next installment. If you're on the fence about reading anything by this author, DO NOT HESITATE.

I listened to this book on Audible. It was released early there because of some issue Audible has with releasing the books of indie authors. I tried really hard to wait until the official release date, but I'm weak. I really stink at reviewing books that I love because they usually devolve into "OMG!!! I FREAKING LOVED THIS BOOK!!! YAAAAASSSSS!!!" or some such nonsense nonsense. In an effort to avoid the inevitable devolution, I'll keep this short. Lauren Rowe has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Though I think I'm a bit outside of her target demographic age-wise, I have no difficulty identifying with her characters. Her writing is smart and witty, and I really like her use of language. Oh, and Lauren's books are freaking HOT. I am very much looking forward to the next ones in this series, while at the same time, I'm kind of hesitant to read them because I'm not ready to let the characters go. I will OF COURSE get them when they are released and devour them just as voraciously as always, but I might feel a little sad about it :)

Beautiful culmination!

I didn't think it was possible for me to love this series more, but The Culmination was truly that - an incredible culmination of an amazing story. It's pretty common knowledge that I think Lauren Rowe can do no wrong, but she really outdid herself this time. I loved seeing Jonas and Sarah a few years into their relationship, and continuing to learn about them as a family. I loved the little peeks into Josh and Cat. The story was extremely well written. I love that the characters all feel real, and that their actions - while certainly not always what I would choose - are completely understandable for that character. A beautiful ending to a beautiful story. I cannot more highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys smart, well written romances.

The audio performance is wonderful, as always.

I am a huge fan of Lauren Rowe's "The Club" series, so when she announced that she had a psychological thriller coming out, I knew I had to read it. I prefer to listen to audiobooks so that I can read while doing other things, so I was happy (and kind of annoyed on her behalf) when Lauren announced on Facebook that Audible was releasing Countdown to Killing Kurtis early, and purchased it right away. I'll confess to being a rather neglectful wife, since I wore my earbuds all stinking day and into the night listening to the book, and then got up extra early the next day so I could finish listening before work! I really loved this book. So many twists and turns, and numerous "WTF?!!s". It kept me guessing, and had many "Oh, sh*t!" moments. While I absolutely agree that this book is nothing like "The Club" series, Lauren's humor, wit, and voice come through very clearly. I loved (and loved to hate :)) the characters in "Countdown to Killing Kurtis". They were fully formed, and very believable. Buttercup cracked me up and kind of horrified me at the same time - in the very best way. As for the audiobook specifically, it was narrated by Lauren Rowe herself, and as always, she did a stellar job. I loved that the Texas accent was very apparent, but not too over the top. She does a pretty freaking amazing impression of a famous newscaster at one point! I unreservedly recommend "Countdown to Killing Kurtis". I know I've said it before, but at this point, Lauren Rowe could write a phone book, and I know I'd read it and love it.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

To me, the love part just seemed kind of rushed. It was an okay story - there was nothing especially bad or offensive about the story, per se, just to me not terribly special.

If you’ve listened to books by Sarah Castille before, how does this one compare?

I've never listened to anything by this author before.

How could the performance have been better?

Okay. I'm almost certainly a huge snob, but I could not stand that the narrator didn't pronounce her mid word hard consonants. I'm not sure how to spell it phonetically, but in words like better, bitten, button, etc she didn't pronounce the T's - it was almost a glottal stop instead. This is entirely personal, but it drove me nuts.

Would you listen to The Club again? Why?

Any day of the week, time and again. This book was amazingly well written, the characters were smart, believable. Loved every minute.

Initial emails, cave, every second in between.

I actually accidentally came across this book in Audible. I used a credit to purchase it on a whim, and OH MY GOSH!!!! I freaking LOVED this book. So much that I've already preordered the next book in the series, and would've preordered the third one if it was available. This book is very sexy, yes, but there is an amazing story told exceptionally well. I'm going to read the next books in this series without hesitation, and if they're half as good as this first installment, Lauren Rowe will join my very, very short list of authors whose books I will purchase without hesitation, sight unseen. She tells one hell of a story, and a full day after finishing the book, I'm still thinking about the characters. I will absolutely read almost anything this author publishes. Fan-freaking-tastic.
