Misleading Title
Revisado: 06-17-24
The title is misleading. The main two focuses are racism in pregnancy/ birth and Covid-19. But the author goes on so many tangents it's hard to keep up and stay on either of those topics. Much of the information was quoted from other authors' books and articles. I feel like this could have been such a great book had it been pieced together better before publishing.

Historia
Each of us has a dual nature: we are light (conscious) and dark (unconscious). The dark side of our personality - the “other,” the shadow side - is made up of what we think is our primitive, primal, negative impulses - our “existential kink.” Our existential kink also drives the dark or negative repeating patterns in our life: always choosing the abusive partner or boss, settling for less, thinking that we’re undeserving, not worthy. But it also is the source of our greatest power.

Couldn't Recommend Enough
Revisado: 12-08-20
I have been recommended this book by so many people and just didn't get around to buying it because I'm not much of a reader. So my sex & relationship coach had me listen to it on Audible and I was instantly hooked. I've read it three times and plan to buy the physical copy.
The exercises and concepts in this book are life-changing! I've seen huge shifts in a very short amount of time by using the exercises given here. I used to have severe insomnia, recollection of past traumas, trouble in relationships and depression. Now I feel like I'm glowing and walking on air! When I'm feeling a tough emotion I FEEL it and then shift it. This book is great in conjunction with therapy and/or coaching.
Also the author's voice is perfect for narration of her own book.

Don't Even Bother
Revisado: 12-08-20
Do yourself a favor and buy a different self-help book. The author is extremely privileged and doesn't even acknowledge this in her writing. Her hardships are not comparable to most people. I honestly think she has such a high following because she is religious. I'm sure there are other authors out there who can do a much better job and still be just as preachy as Hollis.
